A lthough Norton Ghost 1 5 is not a freeware software, but the result of this tutorial ev en for the ones that doesn’t hav e a
product key will benefit from the sy stem recov ery ISO we will make and put on USB later, which contains many professional
free tools y ou can use, so be patient, y ou won’t regret it, follow the steps and good luck:
1 - Y ou need a Windows based PC to work with this tutorial, and if y ou are working from Windows 7 or Vista, y ou will need to
work with elev ated priv ileges (Run as A dministrator).
2- Y ou need an empty 1 GB or better USB 2.0 or better thumb driv e.
3- Download the Norton Ghost 1 5 trial from HERE (http://us.norton.com/downloads/trialsoftware/register.jsp?
pv id=ghost1 5) , it’s a 1 1 9 MB download, and if y ou do hav e a product key , make it handy , y ou will use it for product
activ ation. A fter download go install the program, activ ate, restart when necessary , update the program, and be ready for
nex t step.
4- Download the free Sy mantec Recov ery Disk ISO image (1 92 MB) from HERE

wv _ty pe=public_web&docurl=20091 01 6094409EN&pv id=nghost_1 5&selected_nav =5) to y our desktop, and ex tract that
image to a separate folder, by default the name of the folder will be the same of the name of the ISO image
(NGH1 501 _A llWin_English_SrdOnly ).
5- Download the portable (RMPrepUSB 2.1 .600_REL.zip) tool from HERE
(https://sites.google.com/site/rmprepusb/documents/release-2-0) , ex tract the zipped file to a folder onto y our desktop.
6- Start the Norton Ghost 1 5 program from its shortcut icon on y our desktop, choose the Tools Tab, then click on Create
Custom Recov ery Disk CD:

7 - From the nex t screen click on NEXT button:

8- From the nex t screen choose desktop as a destination to the new ISO image y ou will make, and hit the NEXT button:

9- From the nex t screen browse to the folder (NGH1 501 _AllWin_English_SrdOnly ) that contains the files of the ISO image
y ou ex tracted in step # 4 abov e:

1 0- Now hit NEXT button:

1 1 - Nex t step is to put a label name for the new disk, and click on sav e a copy of the custom Sy stem Recov ery Disk ISO file,
by default the name of the new ISO image will be created is Sy mantecSrd.iso, and by default it will be sav ed to y our
documents, so replace the word documents by Desktop, so the ISO file will be sav ed to the desktop, and hit NEXT button:

1 2- Nex t screen y ou will be asked to include any driv ers y ou want, hit nex t when done or if y ou don’t hav e any :

1 3- Nex t screen y ou will be asked for the time zone, hit NEXT when done:

1 4- Nex t screen y ou will be asked for network options, better to choose A utomatic, and hit Nex t button, also y ou hav e the
option to input y our account info if y ou hav e one with PC a any where:

1 5- Nex t step choose the Use the license key that is activ ated on this computer, if y ou already used it to activ ate in step # 3
abov e, otherwise if y ou don’t hav e one choose prompt for a license key and hit the NEXT button:

1 6- On nex t screen click Finish button:

1 7 - The program will start to create the new ISO image, wait for it to finish:

1 8- When done press the OK button:

1 9- Now the new ISO image created should be on desktop and its name is Sy mantecSrd.iso, I want y ou to ex tract this new
image to a separate folder onto y our desktop, the new folder should bear the same name of the ISO image (Sy mantecSrd), we
will need it in the following steps:
20- Now open folder (RMPrepUSB 2.1 .600_REL) that y ou downloaded in step # 5 abov e, and ex ecute the (RMPREPUSB.ex e)
y ou find inside that folder, follow the steps in picture below from 1 to 5, then in step 6 browse to the new folder of the new
ISO image y ou just ex tracted in step # 1 9 abov e, make sure step 7 in the picture below is pointing to the new folder
(Sy mantecSrd) before y ou hit the prepare driv e button in step 8 in the picture below:

21 - On the nex t confirmation window press OK button:

22- Another confirmation window push the OK button also:

23- This is what y ou will see nex t, do not interrupt the process or close this window, wait a few seconds to finish:

24- Nex t the RMPrepUSB tool will start to copy the files from the new folder (Sy mantecSrd)to y our USB thumb driv e, wait:

25- Click OK on the nex t screen:

26- Now nex t thing is to click on the EJECT DRIV E button as y ou see in the picture below, then click on the OK in the
confirmation window, then hit the EXIT button to close the tool.

27 - Now the USB thumb driv e is ready to be tested, go ahead and boot y our pc with this Sy mantec Recov ery Disk USB y ou
just made, press any key to boot in the nex t screen:

28- Accept the EULA to proceed:

29- Nex t screen y ou will see as the picture below, we are going to ex plore this recov ery CD and see all its tools, we will start
with the main thing and that is the Norton Ghost, so click the Backup My Computer option:

30- For the users who didn’t input a product key in the beginning they will not be able to use the Norton Ghost, but they will
be able to use all the other tools included in this CD, and we are going to ex plore them in the nex t steps, but for now as I said
if y ou didn’t input a product key from the beginning y ou will see this window asking y ou to input the product key , and y ou
cannot proceed if y ou don’t:

31 - For the users who did activ ated the program from the beginning and followed all steps abov e, they will not see that
product key prompt abov e, instead they will be able to proceed, so if y ou do click nex t button:

32- Now y ou will see this screen where y ou can start Imaging y our sy stem or selected driv es, so no need for us to continue

Many thanks for our Headmaster Dr.Jamal Naji for his great work,I have one question about if we
use External hard drive fore example 500GB to save back up images for many computers, How we
can use this External hard for NORTON GHOST 15 and back up images?
I mean bootable external hard drive for NORTON GHOST 15 and at the same time for saving Backup
images
