Africa
Sean Reece
For the past year, we
have planned to build our homes in the bush
upon our immediate arrive to Zambia. How-
ever, in August, it became obvious that the
Spirit was leading us to rethink this. It would
be a great strain on our families to simultane-
ously adjust to life in Africa, build in the bush,
and start the Lozi work. Therefore, we have
now decided to stay in Livingstone a short but
adequate time in order to properly adjust to
our new surroundings. This will also enable us
to build a strong relationship with the Trinity
Baptist Church - the Zambian church in Liv-
ingstone that is partnering with us in the Lozi
project. At the same time, we will be able to
make frequent trips to the Lozi and gradually
build our homes among them.
The postponing of the building project has also
allowed us to move up our departure date and
relocation to Africa. This change in the agenda
coincides with Dr. Berry’s and my impression
when we traveled to Zambia in late August
and returned with a heightened sense of ur-
gency to begin the work. Therefore, we have
kicked our moving plans into high gear. To
our great joy, the Lord seems to be clearing a
path through the red tape of visas and mission-
ary work permits.
Asia
Matt Glass
Over the last several
months the work in Asia
has taken a dramatic turn. After much prayer
and counsel, we have decide to curtail some
of our work until God raises up a more com-
petent and trustworthy leadership. We believe

As now planned, my brother Shannon and I
will spend most of January in Africa in order to
secure housing and missionary work permits
in Zambia. We will also seek to purchase and
prepare our gear and vehicle in South Africa.
We hope to return to Alabama in February for
final packing, and then, with the Lord’s help,
our families will return to Africa with us in
early March.
What a thrill it has been to watch God meet
our needs so that we might take the Gospel to
the Lozi. We are frequently left shaking our
heads in amazement as He quickly and abun-
dantly answers our requests. He sent a check
for $2000 from a young family on the other
side of the globe that arrived in a moment of
discouragement. Another $2000 was sent by
a small church in Missouri just as we needed
to purchase camping gear. How encouraging
it is to watch God fund His eternal purposes
through weak “nobodies” and shame those
in this world with the illusion of power and
importance.
In the last two weeks, God has dramatically an-
swered two needs. A dear friend in South Af-
rica felt led of God to give us his Toyota Land
Cruiser, thus saving us over $20,000! This
same friend then used his personal discount
to purchase our camping gear. He bought all
three of our tents for the price of one!
There are many days when we are disgusted
with our lack of faith and prayer. Yet, with the
tiny faith of a mustard seed, we have cast our-
selves on God as our only hope, and He has
been faithful.

has resulted in great blessing; however, we
must hold to our conviction that we can only
grow to the degree that we can work with an
indigenous leadership that is sound in theol-
ogy, doxology, and praxis (practice). We also
believe that if such leadership is to be a reality
in the remote places of Asia that we must be-
come more heavily involved in the training of
indigenous ministers of the Gospel.

Australia
Holden Barry
The Lord has been pleased
to bless us with a wonder-
ful opportunity in Austra-
lia and the surrounding areas. In December
of 2007, HeartCry donor Daniel Kissell and
his family, who live in Australia, made contact
with us through our website requesting a copy
of the magazine. The Lord prompted and it
was then discussed and agreed that we should
send not one but multiple copies of our maga-
zine to them for distribution among the vari-
ous contacts that were interested in HeartCry.
At first, we sent only 25 copies of our Oct.-Dec.
2007 issue. Subsequently, one year later, we
are now sending about 200 copies of each is-
sue (which is quickly becoming too small of an
amount)!
In addition to the magazine, Brother Daniel
and others have copied and distributed count-
less CDs and DVDs of various sermons from
HeartCry. The Lord has blessed their efforts
and expanded their distribution horizons
throughout all of Australia, New Zealand,
Singapore, and South Africa. All this is be-
ing done as a ministry ‘on the side’ by these
brothers and sisters who support themselves
with full-time jobs. Please pray for this work,
that the Lord would use it to glorify His great
Name, to encourage the saints, and to preach
the Gospel to the lost.
Through all the difficulty, the Lord continues
to be faithful. He is not only pruning the mis-
sionary work in Asia, but He is also pruning us
here in the home office. Our decision to stand
still and stand back instead of going forward at
a rapid pace is very difficult, but the need to
wait upon the Lord is evident to all.
We are full of hope and rejoice in the Lord’s
providence, and yet we need the wisdom that
only the Holy Spirit through the Scriptures

Europe

The social and eco-
nomic upheaval in Eastern Europe has had
a profound effect on the people and culture.
The depressed economy has resulted in an
increased number of residents leaving their
homes for Western Europe to improve their
financial well-being. While some HeartCry
missionaries have been profoundly affected
by their move, their ministries continue to
plod steadily along.
It has been a joy to receive an uninterrupted
flow of testimonies about how God has shown
Himself strong on behalf of our HeartCry fam-
ily in Eastern Europe. In spite of high taxes and
a rising cost of living resulting in privation, our
brothers and sisters have been supernaturally
sustained. Earlier this year, one of our mission-
aries from Moldova wrote:
“One evening when the children had the flu
we decided to have a vapor inhalation. I re-
membered the way we did it when I was just
a little child. We took a brick and made it
very hot in the fire. We placed it under a
table on which we had put a blanket and
we poured tea on the brick and breathed the
hot air. We did the same with the children.
We even prayed under the table. My little son
Felice prayed and thanked God for the day.
When he finished, the other children whis-
pered ‘Amen’. Then he continued: ‘Lord we
thank You for the brick’.”

with a good brother in South India with whom
we may partner in some capacity in the future.
He will be joining us for an upcoming confer-
ence at our church in February. Also, a team
from HeartCry will be traveling to Indonesia
in January to spend time with a church plant-
ing team working among the Sundanese Mus-
lims. Please pray for open doors and wisdom
to recognize the Lord’s leading.

The church planting, discipleship, and univer-
sity ministries continue to yield favor and fruit
among the spiritually lost. Recent reports from
our Gypsy brothers reveal an increase in evan-
gelistic zeal and success as they have witnessed
unusual responses to the scattering of Gospel
Middle
East
Marc Glass
Despite the volatility of
the Middle East as a whole, the past year has
basically been “business as usual” for our mis-
sionaries. Currently, we are speaking with and
praying about supporting three more men in
this region: two in Lebanon and one in Jordan.
Pray that the Lord would give us wisdom as
we seek to more effectively partner with and
equip these dear brothers in the Middle East.
In Israel, Antony S. has had quite a busy
year, hosting two lengthy evangelistic cam-
paigns. One of the great blessings with the
work in Israel is that all three of our mission-
aries, Antony S., Michael K, and Leonid B.,
are able to fellowship and work together in
the ministry. Israel is not a very large place
and these brothers live within close proximity
to one another. The thrust of their evangelistic
efforts has been twofold. First, they have spon-
sored newspaper, radio, and poster ads that
advertise a free film on born-again Holocaust
survivors and a free film on the true meaning

seed among their people. Please pray that
God’s Spirit might fall upon Eastern Europe
and that Christ’s kingdom might be enlarged
through the endeavors of our brethren. Also,
pray that the economic dilemma would turn
out to the furtherance of the Gospel.

to their ad, the films are personally delivered
to the addressee along with other literature and
a New Testament. The people’s names are also
entered into a database for further follow-up.
Secondly, the three missionaries have spent a
great deal of time on the streets, handing out
literature and speaking with people about Jesus
Christ. Pray for their efforts. Israel can be a
difficult place to live and minister.
In Lebanon, Walid B. has also been very busy
handing out Bibles on the streets. Throughout
most of the year, he and his co-laborers have
primarily concentrated on evangelism in Bei-
rut. However, in the last several months they
have sensed the great need to plant a church in
the southern city of Tyre. They already have
a good core group made up of one Lebanese
family, a brother from Holland, and a Unifil
soldier from Zambia. Amazingly, the Zambian
brother just happens to be from HeartCry’s sis-
ter church in Lusaka, Kabwata Baptist Church.
Please pray for them. On November 16 they
held their first meeting as the Tyre Reformed
Baptist Church.

America
Paul Washer
Nearly two years ago the
work in Peru took a dramatic turn for the bet-
ter. In our first theological conference in many
years in the city of Lima, we focused on the
nature of the Gospel and the biblical call of sin-
ners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We
also critiqued the superficial evangelism of the
age and compared it to that of the Scriptures
and of our Christian forefathers. Finally, we
also examined the modern methods of dealing
with the souls of men and taught on the doc-
trine of biblical assurance. To our surprise, the
result was immediate and astounding. Many
pastors broke out in tears. Others publicly de-
clared that they must return to their congrega-
tions and re-evangelize them.
U.S.
Office
Dr. Nathan Berry
This year God has be-
stowed many blessings on all of us here at
HeartCry. The entire staff can thank God for
good health and for His abundant grace to ad-
dress issues throughout the world.
Regarding the finances, all of us here at the
U.S. office have been overwhelmed by the
liberality of support even during our current
financial crisis in the United States. Through-
out this year we have seen an increase in
overall donations in spite of the global eco-
nomic uncertainty.
God has seen fit to provide needed additional
funds for projects both here in the U.S. and
on foreign soil. Although we have seen an

surrounding countries of South America and
even to Spain itself. In recent months, the CDs
and DVDs from our conferences have made
their way into several different Hispanic coun-
tries and into the Hispanic population in the
United States and Europe. As a result, we
have received invitations for similar confer-
ences in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico,
and Spain.
Please pray that the Lord might grant us wis-
dom to fulfill our duties, strength to bear the
burden, and grace to either shield us from the
enemy or enable us to resist him. We are al-
ways needy of grace on all accounts.

unreached Lozi people. God also answered
another prayer for our home office in bringing
Jon Green back from England.
Overall this year has been full of blessings from
God through the generous giving of devoted
donors. We thank our Lord for the privilege
of serving alongside His people throughout the
world. Please pray for all of us that we might
seek to be more faithful in our service and
stewardship for the coming year.

SCANDALOUS
GOSPEL

“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel for
it is the power of God for salvation to
everyone who believes, to the Jew first
and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:16
Paul’s flesh had every reason to be ashamed
of the Gospel he preached because it contra-
dicted absolutely everything that was held to
be true and sacred among his contemporaries.
To the Jew, the Gospel was the worst sort of
blasphemy because it claimed that the Naza-
rene who died accursed on Calvary was the
Messiah. To the Greeks, it was the worst sort
of absurdity because it claimed that this Jewish
Messiah was God in the flesh. Thus Paul knew
that whenever he opened his mouth to speak
the Gospel he would be utterly rejected and
ridiculed to scorn unless the Holy Spirit inter-
vened and moved upon the hearts and minds
of his hearers. In our day, the primitive Gospel
is no less offensive, for it still contradicts every
tenet or “ism” of contemporary culture - rela-
tivism, pluralism, and humanism.
It’s Not All Relative
We live in an age of Relativism - a belief system
based upon the absolute certainty that there are
no absolutes. We hypocritically applaud men
for seeking the truth, but call for the public ex-
ecution of anyone arrogant enough to believe
he has found it. We live in a self-imposed Dark
Age, the reason for which is clear. Natural man
is a fallen creature, morally corrupt, and hell-
bent on autonomy (i.e. self-government). He
hates God because H,e is righteous and hates
His laws because they censure and restrict his

evil. He hates the truth because it exposes him
for what he is and troubles what still remains
of his conscience. Therefore, fallen man seeks
to push truth, especially the truth about God,
as far from him as possible. He will go to any
extent to suppress the truth; even to the point
of pretending that no such thing exists or that
if it does exist, it cannot be known or have any
bearing on our lives. It is never the case of a
hiding God but a hiding man. The problem is
not the intellect but the will. Like a man who
hides his head in the sand to avoid a charging
rhino, modern man denies the truth of a righ-
teous God and His moral absolutes in hopes
of quieting his conscience and putting out of
mind the judgment he knows to be inevitable.
The Christian Gospel is a scandal to man and
his culture because it does the one thing he
most wants to avoid - It awakens him from
his self-imposed slumber to the reality of his
fallenness and rebellion, and calls for him to
reject autonomy and submit to God through
repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Everyone’s Not Right
We live in an age of Pluralism – a belief system
that puts an end to truth by declaring every-
thing to be true, especially with regard to reli-
gion. It may be difficult for the contemporary
Christian to comprehend, but the Christians
living in the first few centuries of the faith were
actually marked and persecuted as atheists.
The culture surrounding them was immersed
in theism. The world was filled with images of
deities, and religion was a booming business.
Men not only tolerated one another’s deities
but also swapped and shared them. The en-
tire religious world was going along just fine
until the Christians showed up and declared
that, “gods made with hands are no gods at all.”
They denied the Caesars the homage they de-
manded, refused to bend the knee to all other
so-called gods, and confessed Jesus alone as
Lord of all. The entire world looked on such
jaw-dropping arrogance and reacted with fury
against the Christian’s intolerable intolerance
to tolerance.
This same scenario abounds in our world to-
day. Against all logic, we are told that all views
regarding religion and morality are true, no
matter how radically different and contradic-
tory they may be. The most overwhelming as-
pect of all this is that through the tireless efforts
of the media and the academic world, this has
quickly become the majority view. Neverthe-
less, pluralism does not address the issue or
cure the malady. It only anesthetizes the pa-
tient so that he no longer feels or thinks. The
Gospel is a scandal because it awakens man
from his slumber and refuses to let him rest on
such an illogical footing. It forces him to come
to some conclusion – “How long will you hesi-
tate between two opinions? If the LORD is
God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.”
The true Gospel is radically exclusive. Jesus
is not “a” way, but “the” way, and all other
ways are no way at all. If Christianity would
only move one small step toward a more tol-
erant ecumenicalism and change the definite
article “the” for the indefinite article “a”, the
scandal would be removed, and the world and
Christianity could become friends. However,
whenever this occurs, Christianity ceases to be
Christianity, Christ is denied, and the world is
without a Savior.
Man Is Not The Measure
We live in an age of Humanism. Over the
last several decades, man has fought to purge
God from his conscience and culture. He has
torn down every visible altar to the “One True
God” and has erected monuments to himself
with the zeal of a religious fanatic. He has
managed to make Himself the center, measure,
and end of all things. He praises his inherent
worth, demands homage to his self-esteem,
and promotes his own self-fulfillment or self-
realization as the greatest good. He explains
away his gnawing conscience as the remnants
of an antiquated religion of guilt, and he ex-
cuses himself from any responsibility for the
moral chaos surrounding him by blaming so-
ciety, or at least that part of society that has
not yet attained to his enlightenment. Any sug-

gestion that his conscience might be right in
its testimony against him or that he might be
responsible for the almost infinite variations of
maladies in the world is unthinkable. For this
reason, the Gospel is a scandal to fallen man
because it exposes his delusion about himself
and convicts him of his fallenness and guilt.
This is the essential “first work” of the Gospel,
and this is why the world so loathes true Gos-
pel preaching. It ruins man’s party, rains on his
parade, exposes his make-believe, and points
out that the emperor has no clothes.
The Scriptures recognize that the Gospel of
Jesus Christ is a “stumbling block” and “fool-
ishness” to all men of every age and culture.
However, to seek to remove the scandal from
the message is to make void the cross of Christ
and its saving power. We must understand
that the Gospel is not only scandalous, but it
is supposed to be! Through the foolishness of
the Gospel, God has ordained to destroy the
wisdom of the wise, frustrate the intelligence
of the greatest minds, and humble the pride of
all men. To the end that no flesh may boast in
His presence, but just as it is written, “Let him
who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Paul’s Gospel not only contradicted the reli-
gion, philosophy, and culture of the day, but it
declared war on them. It refused truce or trea-
ty with the world and would settle for nothing
less than culture’s absolute surrender to the
Lordship of Jesus Christ. We would do well to
follow Paul’s example. We must be careful to
shun every temptation to conform our Gospel
to the trends of the day or the desires of carnal
men. We have no right to water down its of-
fense or civilize its radical demands in order
to make it more appealing to a fallen world
or carnal church members. Our churches are
filled with strategies to make them more seeker-
friendly by repackaging the Gospel, removing
the stumbling block, and taking the edge off
the blade, so that it might be more acceptable
to carnal men. We ought to be seeker-friendly,
but we ought to realize this - there is only One
seeker and He is God. If we are striving to
make our church and message accommodat-
ing, let us make them accommodating to Him.
If we are striving to build a church or ministry,
let us build it upon a passion to glorify God,
and a desire not to offend His majesty. To the
wind with what the world thinks about us. We
are not to seek the honors of earth, but the
honor of heaven should be our desire.

Below is the most recent field report from Willinliu
N. Because of the terrible persecution in the country
where she works, we can only say that she is serving
in South Asia. We hope her brief testimony will be
an encouragement to you.
Thank you so much for your great concern for
me and my ministry. I am now fully convinced
that the Lord will make a way for me by His
grace and through your prayer support,
The dear Mrs. Bobby has decided to become a
true Christian. The dear Mrs. Purnima and her
family are now aware that Christ died for sinners
like us and they all show a great eagerness to
learn more about the Gospel. Three families in
Phue-----, one family in Pas-----, and another three
families is Kho----- are very much interested in
knowing more about the Gospel. Mr. Bishnu has
now come to realize the beauty of Christianity.

Romanian Gypsies
With other people in
our church, I was invit-
ed to Mogosoaia where
we attended a baptis-
mal service. There were
many people who came
to see the baptism of a family that took place
in a nearby river.
One week later we were invited to Rosiori de
Vede by missionary Sorin Iordan. While we
were there, we went to the house of a very rich
family who had returned to the Lord after a
miracle done by God with their 10 years-old
boy. This child was paralysed. He could not see
nor hear nor speak, but our Lord Jesus Christ
touched the little body and healed him. Thus
all the family came to know the Lord. When
we arrived in their house, we saw that they had
invited all their relatives to hear the Gospel.
There were two persons who made professions
of faith in the Lord that night and we prayed
for them. That night we stayed until midnight
rejoicing in the fellowship. I was back home at
3 o’clock in the morning. We were so glad to
hear and see the wonderful works of God.

I will tell you about one of the events that has
been the remarkable for me. Mr. Vivek invit-
ed us to visit his sister Sushma who had been
suffering from an unknown disease. After we
arrived, we sat down and prayed for her and
there was an immediate sign of improvement.
The whole household was happy with the mir-
acle of the Lord.
I also praise God for He has blessed me with
another eight sisters on the border of Sub---
Pal--. I continue to visit them and they are in-

We had an open air

the church. There were
more than 100 people
who attend the event
and many more heard
the Word of God due to the amplification sys-
tem. Many people were touched by the Word
of God. The Mayor had never attended such
a meeting. He made a small speech and after-
wards we prayed for God’s blessing upon him.
He was so touched that he could not stop his
tears from falling from his eyes.
The following day, the mayor visited our church
building and congratulated us for unity and or-
ganization. He promised us we will be connect-
ed to the gas network. He promised to provide
us the central heating and also he will help us
with all the installation. Praise God for this man
after God’s heart. May the Lord bless him.

Romanian Gypsies
In August, God worked
in an amazing and pow-
erful way in Rosiori de
Vede. A spiritual revival among Gypsy people
started there. Persons who did not want to hear
anything about God and who used to mock
the Word of God, were so touched by the Lord
that they came and searched for me so that I
would help them search for the Lord.
One family was changed in a special way. Tan-
darica and Studina belong to a rich family that
is well respected among the Gypsy people,
but they were involved in many delinquencies
and were far away from the Lord. Under the
preaching of the Gospel, they were searched
by God and He took them out of their sins with
His powerful hand.

Walid B. Lebanon
As some of you know, HeartCry missionary
Walid B. and his co-laborers recently began
a new church plant in the city of Tyre, in
southern Lebanon. The fourth largest city in
Lebanon, Tyre is located approximately 50
miles south of Beirut on the Mediterranean
Sea. The city was originally part of ancient
Israel and is mentioned throughout the Bible.
Mark 3:7-8 states, “Jesus withdrew with his
disciples to the sea, and a great crowd fol-
lowed, from Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem
and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and
from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great

family and me. We are so encouraged by what

These past months have seen many things.
First of all, the amazing grace of God in the
lives of many of our brothers and sisters in the
church. In the area of evangelism specifically,
there are many new members who are very

and their child Marius, who was three years
old, were in the apartment on the 4th floor
where they lived. The parents were sleeping
when Marius went in the balcony and fell to the
street. For three days he had been in coma in
the hospital while Tandarica and Studina were
on their knees crying out to God to save their
child. They promised the Lord that they would
repent and come to Him. Three days later, the
dead-like child awoke and became perfectly
healthy, without any single fracture. Tandarica
and his wife started to attend our church and
he told us that he wants to serve the Lord for
all his life. He also expressed his desire to be
baptized. With God’s help, we plan to have a
baptismal service as soon as possible.

afternoons so that God might open the door
and we might witness with power. We are shar-
ing the Gospel to every creature and preaching
the Word of God in buses, parks, homes, and
wherever else the door might open.
We have already finished the first two DVD sets
for training in evangelism. These DVDs contain
testimonies, interviews with people from the
streets, actual one on one witnessing situations,
biblical teaching on evangelism, and warnings
about the dangers of decisionism. We are hop-
ing that these videos will encourage our broth-
ers and sisters to evangelize the right way, giv-
ing the glory to God and not to men. Already,
other churches have requested these resources.
In the last few months, we have seen many
people confronted by their sins and concerned
about their eternal destiny. We know that only
God can bring salvation to the lost and we are
trusting in His grace to save them. We have
received many testimonies about people who
show a great interest in repentance and faith
in Jesus Christ, but have yet to be converted.
We trust in God alone, who knows everything
about the hearts of men.
This last week, we went to the nearby district
of Miraflores (near our church) to do open air
preaching in the park. There we noticed a man
from Spain who was listening very carefully to
the Gospel. After the preaching, Pastor Martin
Zacarias talked to him and he confessed that
he was going to smuggle drugs to Spain on
Sunday. Pastor Martin spent a very long time
with him, and pleaded with him to repent and
trust in the Savior. At the end of their conversa-
tion, Pastor Martin gave the man his telephone
number and left. The next day, the man came
to see the Pastor, and told him that he had re-
pented and left everything in the hands of the
Savior. It was one of the most drastic changes
I have ever seen in a man. He is now coming
to church every day for discipleship. The Gos-
pel really is the power of God unto salvation.
Glory to God!
Please pray for us and the young street preach-
ers who are working with us for the kingdom
of Christ. We desire your continuous prayers

for all of us because we know that is not easy
when the Gospel is being preached in truth.
There are so many false doctrines, idolatries,
and false preachers, that we need the help
from God to strengthen us. Please pray that the
Lord might send more faithful laborers to the
vineyard. There is a lot to do.
Also, we ask for special prayer for me and
my family, that God might continue to give us
grace, love, and wisdom so that we might glo-
rify His Name in everything we do. Our desire
is that His name be Great among the nations!

Peru, Martín Zacarias
writes the following with
regard to the man from
Spain with whom he
shared Christ.
We are all amazed at the conversion of Rafael
Carretón Almarch, the man from Spain who
had come to Perú with the purpose of smug-
gling drugs back into his own country. He
seems to have the gift of evangelism in that he
shares what God has done in his life with ev-
ery person he meets. We are without words to
describe his conversion. We can only say that
it is similar to that of Saul of Tarsus who was
immediately transformed from an enemy of
the Gospel into its most ardent propagator and
defender. In one moment, Rafael stopped his
wicked lifestyle and began to read the Scrip-
tures like a baby drinking milk. He has a desire
to understand the Gospel like no one we have
ever seen before. Glory to God who encour-
ages us with such conversions in the midst of
all our adversities!

The Arctic Circle

Last year we had the privilege of meeting Alaskan
missionary Justin Vold and his dear family. We
were so impressed by their doctrine and desire to
reach the lost in the Arctic Circle that we decided
to partner with them in their ministry. The fol-
lowing is a monthly report from the Volds.

Dear HeartCry, Greetings to you in the Name

of our Wonderful Savior Jesus Christ. Thank
you all for your continued prayers. As I travel
to these remote villages, I understand why the
apostle Paul was always asking the churches to
pray for him. Thank you for praying for us and
the people we serve.
I just returned from the village of Bethel
where fellow AFCI minister Mack Tomlinson
preached and taught over forty Eskimo men.
This was a conference with Moravian Pastors
and Elders and other preachers from the sur-
rounding villages. The Lord used Mack in a
mighty way and many of them were revived
in the call of God. One elderly pastor said to
me, “He teaches the way the old missionaries
used to teach us.” One church leader said, “We
needed this. Oh thank God for you guys com-
ing here to bring us back to the Scriptures!”
Several of the young ministers were also very
encouraged to “devote themselves to the Word
of God and prayer.” Many of them shared with
me the struggles that they are facing in villages
were they serve. Some are having hardships as
a result of moving their families to far away
villages to serve the Church, while others are
being shunned and persecuted for their faith.
Please continue to pray for the growing Church
in remote Alaska.
At the present, we are gearing up to head to the
village of Pedro Bay in order to tend to the flock
there and watch the children of missionaries
Chris and Mary Sanners. Please pray for us as
we seek opportunity to evangelize in this area
and as we help home school four of their chil-
dren during their absence. Please pray for them
for they have been asked to help minister the
Gospel to an isolated Muslim group in Algeria.
I also ask that you pray for new believers Mi-
chael and Agatha Tinkner. They are the only
believers in the village of Pilot Station. Please
pray for the some 600 people who live there
and have yet to hear the Gospel. It has not
been easy for the Tinkner’s and we are hop-
ing to help them through the winter. Pray for
safe travel this winter and great boldness to
proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

man who would become my pastor, teacher,
and friend. He formed a Theological Institute
in which I studied for three years until 2006.
Then, I finished my fourth year of studies at
the Hispanic Theological Institute of the South
East in Miami, Florida.

During that period of time, my pastor and I

door visitation. In 2005, he and I attended an

made us realize that we were totally useless
with all the methods that we had learned. We
were totally discouraged for a while because
our pride had been hurt.

Finally, the Lord opened the door for me to

In other words I became a trainer and a teach-
er on how to “get decisions” and create “false
converts”! Our team would go into the streets
and get people to make their decision and then
participate in the School of Biblical Evange-
lism founded by Ray Comfort. Through Ray’s
school and the teachings of Scripture, God
showed me the truth about the modern evan-
gelism methods as opposed to true biblical
evangelism. When I realized the seriousness
of my sin in declaring people saved who were
not truly saved, I repented and asked God to
forgive me for my ignorance. Immediately af-
ter this my heart was filled with inexplicable
joy to know that there was a biblical way to
evangelize and to reach the lost God’s way.

my heart began to get on fire with the desire
to preach the Gospel to every creature and to
tell the world about the great things of the One
who died to save us. My wife and I went out
on the streets to evangelize with our newborn
son, and everything was different. We had the
true Gospel of repentance and faith. However,
no one in our church seemed to understand
why we were so excited no matter how hard
we tried to communicate it to them.
A short time after this I began to do open-air
preaching at the downtown Miami Govern-
ment Center. At first, we went there once a

are few. At this moment, there are countless

panded if only Christians would turn from the

the will of God in making the Gospel known to

Our Statement of Purpose

The chief end of all mission work is the Glory of God. Our greatest concern is that His Name
be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun (Malachi 1:11), and that the
Lamb who was slain might receive the full reward for His sufferings (Revelation 7:9-10). We find
our great purpose and motivation not in man or his needs but in God, His commitment to His
own glory, and our God-given desire to see Him worshipped in every nation, tribe, people, and
language. We find our great confidence not in the Church’s ability to fulfill the Great Commission
but in God’s unlimited and unhindered power to accomplish all He has decreed.

Our Church
The HeartCry Missionary Society is not a para-church organization;
rather, we are a ministry under the authority and supervision of a local
New Testament church and its elders. We call ourselves a society simply
because the word denotes a proper association of people with similar
interests, purposes, or passions. Our church is the Grace Life Church
of the Shoals (1915 Avalon Avenue, Muscle Shoals, AL, 35661). It is
a Church following historic Baptist principles, and is passionate about
the restoration of Gospel preaching, the doctrine of conversion, and the
scriptural truths that ought to govern the local church.

One of the great needs among indigenous
missionaries and pastors is solid Christian lit-
erature. Besides the basic study tools, it is our
desire to provide works from such sources as
the Puritans, the preachers of the Great Awak-
ening, Spurgeon, Martyn Lloyd Jones, etc.
This is our primary ministry. Nothing can do
more to advance the Kingdom and nothing is
more difficult than planting biblical churches
throughout the world. We also support works
on university campuses in Eastern Europe but
always in connection with the local church.

Ministry Tools Bible Conferences

With prayer and discretion, we provide any
number of resources necessary for the indig-
enous missionary to advance the work: boats,
cars, pack mules, generators, computers, con-
struction, etc.
Missions is not about sending missionaries but
about sending truth through missionaries. One
of the greatest needs on the contemporary mis-
sion field is theological training and instruction
in expository preaching. Our Bible conferenc-
es focus mainly upon the true Gospel, exposi-
tory preaching, true conversion and assurance,
and the biblical church.
