I always think of my knowledge the same way a wealthy person thinks of his bank

account, all he really knows is addition. In an effort to value these words in my life, I have
developed a strong belief in consistent hard work. I have always a clear vision and aim about my
future. My inquisitive and explorative nature coupled with consistent hard work always enabled
me to achieve my goals. It is the result of this attitude which leads to the successful completion
of my studies from school to university level, and hence made it possible to achieve an excellent
academic carrier. I believe keeping up an inquisitive and explorative attitude, together with hard
work, leads to a constant learning process. Thus, as a continuation of the learning process, I set
my aim to pursue for PhD studies.
I have M.Phil degree in Electronics (18 years of education), with research work in
wireless communication from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. My affiliation
with the Department of Electronics dates back to February 2006, which has given me enough
exposure to acquire in depth knowledge in this field.
My present field of research is wireless communication and specifically multi-carrier
systems. I am working on fourth generation (4G) wireless systems namely ultra wide band
(UWB) systems (for indoor communication) and multi-carrier code division multiplexing (MC-
CDMA) systems (for outdoor communication). I have worked on adaptive power control and
rate allocation schemes for multiuser MC-CDMA systems to ensure quality of service (QoS)
transmission. Adaptive rate allocation was achieved with the aid of adaptive modulation and
successive interference cancellation (SIC) technique was used to cancel or minimize the
multiuser interference. Recently, I have enhanced my research to multiuser OFDM based multi-
band (MB) UWB systems for IEEE 802.15.3a channel model with hybrid parallel interference
cancellation (PIC) and Rake receiver. All these systems and techniques are simulated on
MATLAB. At present, I am working on MIMO UWB system for IEEE 802.15.3a channel
model. My future interests include cooperation in wireless sensor networks, cross layer
optimization, and cognitive radio and real time signal processing.
I work well in teams; I am reliable and organized, and enthusiastic to learn. In order to
continue my journey of learning, I am in search of an excellent opportunity to pursue for a PhD
and University of Michigan-Dearborn, USA is a world class university having outstanding
faculty and providing excellent research facilities and environment to its students. My academic
background along with research exposure and positive attitude will prove me a potential
candidate for PhD at College of Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan-
Dearborn. To have a PhD from University of Michigan-Dearborn will be an excellent
springboard for my future career and will provide me the knowledge and confidence to realize
my dreams.
