HUMAN RIGHTS AND DECENT WORK: THE RIGHT TO LIVE WITH DIGNITY

Human rights are an essential part of everyone, but they are in good standing when
men and women become part of society, and where the company, local or global,
validates and establishes mechanisms to promote socially recognized, and mainly
defend them respected by all members, individuals or organizations of that society.

What relationship can have Human Rights to Decent Work?

Apparently several very relevant, we can mention a few:

- Both seek the ultimate goal to defend, promote and respect the dignity of millions of
men and women in the world.

- Both concepts are to move from being an internationally accepted concept of a

concept of universal acceptance.

- In both cases it is the States and major non-state actors accountable for their
defense, promotion and respect.

- Both concepts are collective constructions that are constantly evolving, expanding its
concept and coverage.

Human Rights, as our societies evolve and develop expanded their coverage,
considering aspects gradually from human needs have emerged and are collectively
rated as important to have a Life is not only worthy, but with higher levels of quality.

Issues such as the right to development, the right to be respected in their sexual
orientation, the right to access to quality education and health, the right to enjoy
cultural and scientific advances, the right to unionize and bargain collectively, among
other rights that by not being?

New rights have been made visible so important as we and our society will always give
importance should have been.

The concept of decent work, only with us since 1999, when the Director General of the
Organization of Work (ILO) presented this proposal which seeks to generate an
adequate standard in labor issues in economic and social context in the world that
clearly against the dignity of men and women who make their living from work in
exchange for financial reward, and in certain social conditions that will ensure
development as individuals and as members of a given society.

Decent work is born in a moment of history marked by complex processes, the

expansion of global neo-liberal concepts, doctrine that has directly affected workers, a
model of globalization that has failed to "globalize" the rights and advances in broad
sectors of humanity, but rather have led to dehumanization? growing.

What does the decent work?

Seeks nothing but what he continually searched for the promoters of Human Rights,
defending, promoting and upholding the dignity of persons, in this case, those people
in their social function of "Working." This is achieved with respect to workers in their
role and value their vital contribution they make to their society, this is basic, not only
men and women have jobs, but employment in conditions which ensure their
development as human beings For this, the ILO has found that these jobs must be
productive, properly compensated, exercised in conditions of freedom, Equity, Social
Security and Human Dignity.

For Amartya Sen, Nobel economist and creator of the Bank for the Poor, Decent Work is
a human right, beyond this statement comes from a character that the world has
worked to humanize the economy, is at work where millions of men and women were
upgraded, since it involved only the necessary and fair economic reward, but "from
work" that we develop as people have inserted socially.

Human Rights and Decent Work, looking forward, not only towards a civilized society,
but to a "DECENT SOCIETY ", as it raises the philosopher Avishai Margalit, A civilized
society is one whose members do not humiliate each other, while a decent society is
one whose institutions do not humiliate people.

Both Human Rights and Decent Work are internationally accepted concepts, there is
international law that directly and indirectly support, but as we understand that human
rights are universally accepted, is say people regardless of nationality, religion, race,
color, or other considerations, even state that they are national laws which should be
aligned to the approach from the international law in this area is established. Decent
work must advance to be considered a concept of universal acceptance that no matter
the country or worker's nationality, or local law matter, should this be the standard to
achieve for the workers, and is the state and society as a whole, who should undertake
to achieve this goal.

Finally, there is a fundamental requirement to ensure that both human rights and
decent work, are effectively protected, promoted and respected in their broad
spectrum of our societies deepen its democracy. It is only in democratic societies,
where you can advance more rapidly in these objectives. Fragile democracies, like ours,
have repeatedly shown that do not give enough support to advance in the required
direction.

Human Rights and Decent Work are concepts that were born to stay with us for long,
but we need to constantly and every day, we contribute from our positions to make
this a reality for millions of people in the world.
