The Orientation Seminar (OrSem) 2011 Task Force Creation Act of 2011

Whereas, the creation of task forces is within the power of the Central Board; 1

Whereas, the exercise of general oversight of independent student projects is within the
power of the Central Board; 2

Whereas, the Orientation Seminar (OrSem) also includes the School Nights to be
handled by the respective School Boards;

Whereas, the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo (COA) is a partner of the OrSem
to promote student life in the university;

Whereas, the Ateneo Resident Students Association (ARSA) conducts its own OrSem for
its incoming freshman members;

Wherefore, be it resolved that, the Task Force for OrSem be hereby created with the
mandate of coordination of the different units of the Sanggunian in their efforts for the
orientation of their respective constituencies;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the Task Force be given full autonomy to
determine its organizational structure, internal procedures, name and branding but
must be consistent with that of the Sanggunian;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, each School Board and Sectoral Council is to
nominate one representative to the task force;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the chairperson of the Department of Public


Relations shall be a member of this task force;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the head of this task force shall be the official
liaison of the Sanggunian to the OrSem Core;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the task force shall produce common non-
negotiables on the message and content for each of the School Nights while
protecting the diversity of each of the schools. All essentials for student life must be
covered through the activities of the entire OrSem;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the task force shall help COA in its coordination
with the OrSem Core;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the task force shall work with ARSA to forge a
common message and content for the OrSem and to ensure that there is no overlap of
activities;

Wherefore, be it further resolved that, the Secretary-General inform partners of the task
force in writing of this resolution;

Wherefore, be it finally resolved that, this resolution take effect upon approval of the
Central Board via a two-thirds majority vote.
