1.

A) Political Efficacy is one's own influence or effectiveness on politics. It

indicates citizens' faith and trust in government and his/her own belief that
he/she can understand and influence political affairs.

B) Two forms of participating in the political process other than voting are
protesting peacefully and joining a political party.

C) Your political party will relay your interests to the government, and they will
also help connect you with candidates that suit your ideals. Protesting
peacefully, you can relay your ideals to the public, and you can sway voters if
they see what your stand point is, and if they agree with you

2.

A) Divided government because if Congress and the President don’t agree, most
likely the bill will not be passed due to bipartisanship.

B) If a party is not kept in check, they tend to sway towards their own ideals
rather than those for the whole good, and that causes disagreement in
government

C) If more PAC’s provide money to candidates, candidates, once elected, will not
know who to support and which PAC to satisfy in office.

3.

A) Two demographic characteristics associated with nonvoting are young age

and lack of education.

B) Three institutional obstacles are the West Coast, because they almost know
who is going to win before the polls are closed, the difficulty in registering to
vote, because it is tedious, and negative ad campaigning, which tends to
sway the voters.

4.

A) Apathy is one factor, because people tend to not care about who wins or
loses, but just their daily lives, and they care even less about midterm and
primary elections. Work days is another factor, because voting day is an
average work day, and most polling places are not well equipped to deal with
the big surge of voters who come in after work gets out.

B) Two reasons why voter turnout has been higher in presidential elections than
in midterm elections is because naturally, people care more about voting for
the president than voting for senators. Another reason is because people
don’t want to go through the hassle to vote for a senator, when there are 100
senators.

5.

A) Divided Government has contributed to the decline in trust in government

because people notice that even though politicians make all these promises,
they don’t do anything when it comes to sitting down at the table and settling
their issues with the other party. Divided government is when Congress is
controlled by one party, and the President is of a different party.

B) The increased cost of elections has contributed to the decline in trust in

government, because people notice the amount of money corporations give
to candidates, and ultimately the candidates are indebted to the corporations
if they are in office, so they have to do whatever the corporations want them
to do, which is untrustworthy.
