GSM Base Transceiver Station (BTS) eCell
Nortel’s GSM Base Transceiver Station
(BTS) eCell is a microcellular (BTS). It’s
an extremely compact two-transceiver,
data-dedicated microcellular solution
designed to fill any hot spot and
significantly increase your subscriber
base. The BTS eCell radically reduces

the cost of ownership, setting new
standards for microcellular solutions.
Powerful and compact
Installation and site acquisition are no
longer a nightmare thanks to the highly
integrated and compact design of the
BTS eCell, saving you both time and
money. Very close to the “Plug & Play”
concept, no parameters have to be
configured on site, avoiding the use of a
specialized tool. In the case where
operator-specific configurations such as
Drop & Insert are required, Nortel has
designed a handy solution using a SIM
card. With a radio cabinet that weighs
15 kg and an installation kit that
includes all requested options and site
connections, the BTS eCell can be
installed by low-skilled staff rapidly.
You can even prepare a site in advance
before any radio operation.
Additionally, the BTS eCell’s compact
size makes it ideal for pole or wall
mounting, reducing your site acquisition
costs.
Targeting traffic hot spots
The BTS eCell is designed to meet your
growing capacity demands and is
optimized for coverage of dense, urban
areas. This two-transceiver solution can
be installed wherever and whenever
your network needs a capacity boost.
Should a particular hot spot require
additional capacity, you simply add a
second two-transceiver cabinet.
