JOB ADVERTISEMENT

Kenya Pipeline Company Limited is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following
positions.

1. CHIEF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (SERVICE DELIVERY)

a. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Information Communication Technology Manager, the purpose of


this job is to manage ICT Service Delivery so as to exceed customer expectation in
support of KPC business goals. The task involves overseeing: configuration, service
desk, policies, standards, procedures, change, configuration and service level
management.

b. TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Develop, implement and maintain a Service Level Management process that


includes a Service Catalogue, Service Level Agreements, Operational Level
Agreements and regular service reviews with ICT customers.
 Develop, implement and manage a change control procedure for the ICT team
undertaking the role of Change Manager for the department.
 Develop, implement and maintain a Configuration Management process ensuring
that all hardware and software assets are appropriately recorded and managed.
 Maintain, run and develop an ITIL compliant ICT Service Desk.
 Manage relationships with vendors for purchases, service and support of all
information systems and technology.
 Business continuity management
 Any other duties assigned by the ICTM.

c. PERSON PROFILE

 Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or


equivalent from a recognized University.
 ITIL certification or equivalent is an added advantage.
 Working knowledge under an ERP (SAP) an added advantage.
 Good communicator, leadership and interpersonal skills.
 Knowledge of service management standards, advanced knowledge of computer
support, excellent written and communication skills.
 Be a team player, able to supervise and guide staff under him/her.
 Have served for a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience of which three
(3) years must be at a senior level.
2. CHIEF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (INFORMATION
SYSTEMS)

a. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Information Communication Technology Manager, the job is


responsible for overseeing the functional and technical development and support
of the SAP R/3 ERP System as well as all other application software. The role
involves planning and providing end user application support and development
with the ability to communicate with the business about issues and resolutions as
well as performing testing to assure that developed products meet business
objectives.

b. TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Provide technical leadership and guidance to the overall system development


team.
 Work with the business users to define business requirements, determine the
best system solutions and implement them.
 Integrate various enterprise systems to derive maximum value and enhance
systems optimal utilization.
 Define, scope, initiate, implement and monitor system/process
enhancements, configurations, interfaces, new solutions and projects to
address business needs.
 Identify reporting requirements and generate reports to support business line
requirements.
 Act as subject matter expert in at least one SAP/R3 technical or functional
area, as well as technical knowledge of all phases of project management,
requirements analysis and programming.
 Provide pre and post go-live SAP support and train end users.
 Any other duties assigned by the ICTM.

c. PERSON PROFILE

 Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or


equivalent from a recognized University.
 SAP, ABAP/functional Certification is mandatory.
 Good communicator, leadership and interpersonal skills.
 Knowledge of software testing practices, business process analysis skills, ERP
implementation experience.
 Five (5) years experience of SAP or other ERP support.
 Be a team player, able to supervise and guide staff under him/her.
 Have served for a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience of which
three (3) years must be at a senior level.
3. SENIOR ENGINEER (CIVIL)

Reporting to the Chief Civil Engineer.

JOB PROFILE

 Co-ordinate civil works programs and in charge of the Civil Section at the
Regional level.
 Carry out supervision of Civil Section maintenance works.
 Implement Civil Section projects works as assigned by the superiors.
 Develop maintenance programmes for civil installations.
 Develop designs for civil projects works.
 Prepare tender documents and specifications for civil projects.

PERSON PROFILE

 Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.


 Registered by the Engineers’ Registration Board of Kenya as an Engineer and a
corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) or such
recognized professional body.
 Demonstrated professional knowledge, competence to shoulder the professional
duties and responsibilities.
 Be a team player, able to supervise and guide staff.
 Have served for a minimum of eight (8) years working experience in a busy
organization of which 3 years at the senior level.
 Be computer literate.

4. SENIOR ENGINEER MECHANICAL

Reporting to the Chief Engineer Mechanical.

JOB PROFILE

 Co-ordinate design, installation and general maintenance activities of the pipeline


according to your area of specialization.
 Assist in the general administration of the maintenance unit in a pump station.
Help in the formulation and review of sound maintenance policies as well as
procurement of spare parts for the pipeline.
 Promptly attending to any breakdowns and emergencies in the section for
efficient and effective pumping of petroleum products.

PERSON PROFILE

 Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering or


equivalent qualifications from a recognized university.
 Registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as an Engineer.
 Demonstrated professional knowledge, competence to shoulder the professional
duties and responsibilities.
 Be a team player, able to supervise and guide staff.
 Have served for a minimum of eight (8) years working experience in a busy
organization at the senior level.
 Be a computer literate.

5. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER I (INFORMATION SYSTEMS)

a. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Chief Information Technology Officer (Information Systems), the


person will be responsible for the design, coding and testing of new and
enhanced functionality within the SAP R/3 environment, including data
conversion programs, reports, and program developments and extensions.

b. TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, designing and modifying enterprise


applications.
 Write and maintain software design specifications throughout the system life
cycle
 Manage or assist in the management of small to medium sized projects,
including the planning, development, implementation and reporting of project
status.
 Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s
business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications in
collaboration with internal users and other departments according to system
development life cycle standards.
 Provide support and training to super users, depots and end users in all areas
of reporting requirements.
 Ensure that MIS data is accurate and available to all stakeholders according to
defined access rights via corporate intranet, mobile, website and other
reporting systems.
 Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

c. PERSON PROFILE

 Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a


recognized University.
 SAP, ABAP/functional Certification is mandatory.
 SAP programming or configuration experience is mandatory.
 Commercial understanding of business processes in any of the following i.e.
HR, SD, MM, FIC0 and business intelligence.
 Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
 Served for a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a busy ICT
industry.
 Must be able to work across all modules including FI/CO, MM, SD, HR,
Workflow and BW.
 Be a team player.

6. ENGINEER I (CORROSION)

Reporting to the Chief Engineer (Corrosion Control)

JOB PROFILE

 Co-ordinate design, installation and general maintenance activities of the


pipeline.
 Assist in the general administration of the maintenance unit.
Help in the formulation and review of sound maintenance policies as well as
procurement of spare parts for the pipeline system.
 Promptly attending to any breakdowns and emergencies in the section for
efficient and effective pumping of petroleum products.

PERSON PROFILE

 Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Mechanical or equivalent


qualifications from a recognized university.
 Registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as an Engineer.
 Ability to handle pipeline rehabilitation works, tank maintenance and general
construction works; knowledge in corrosion control activities shall be an added
advantage.
 Demonstrated professional knowledge, competence to shoulder the professional
duties and responsibilities.
 Be a team player, able to supervise and guide staff.
 Have served for a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a busy
organization as an Engineer.
 Be a computer literate.

7. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER III (INFORMATION SYSTEMS)

a. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Chief Information Technology Officer (Information Systems), the


person will be responsible for the design, coding and testing of new and

8. SENIOR TECHNICIAN (INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL)

Reporting to Chief Technician (Instrumentation and Control).

JOB PROFILE

 Supervise maintenance works (both preventive and breakdowns) of I&C


installations in the company.
 Maintain workshop/tools.
 Prepare maintenance schedules/reports.

PERSON PROFILE

 Higher National Diploma in Telecommunications or Instrumentation and Control


or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
 Have relevant experience of three years (3) at Senior Technician level in a busy
environment after graduation with HND.
 Have demonstrated professional qualities and responsible in work performance.
 Have a thorough knowledge of safety regulations.
 Capable of organizing work and supervising staff.
 Be computer literate
9. TECHNICIAN II (INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL)

Reporting to Senior Technician (Instrumentation and Control).

JOB PROFILE

 Assist in implementing maintenance programmes as appropriate.


 Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance under supervision of a senior
Technician or other senior technical staff.
 Responsible for house keeping

PERSON PROFILE

 Ordinary Diploma in Telecommunications or Instrumentation and Control or its


equivalent from a recognized Institution.
 Served as a Technician in equipment maintenance for at least five (5) years
relevant experience in a busy engineering environment gained from a large
organization.
 Be computer literate
 Have a thorough knowledge of safety regulations.

10. TECHNICIAN II (ELECTRICAL)

Reporting to the Senior Technician (Electrical).

JOB PROFILE

 Carry out routine maintenance as per approved maintenance charts.


 Assist in compilation of maintenance report of tasks carried out.
 Workshop housekeeping and maintenance of tools.

PERSON PROFILE

 Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized


Institution.
 Served as an electrical Technician in a busy organization for at least five (5)
years.
 Have a thorough knowledge of safety regulations.
 Be a computer literate.
 Have knowledge on supervisory skills.
 Have good communication skills.

11. SENIOR ARTISAN (ELECTRICAL)

Reporting to the Technicians (Electrical).


JOB PROFILE

 Expected to work under a senior technical staff and will assist in implementing
approved maintenance programmes as appropriate.
 Will carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance under close supervision of
a Senior Technical Staff.

PERSON PROFILE

 Final Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from Kenya


National Examinations Council or National Polytechnic or any other recognized
Institution.
 Served as an Artisan for over six (6) years.
 Have knowledge of safety regulations.
 Have good communication skills.
