PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Ensambles HYSON/Rain Bird 2006 - Present

Sr. Buyer Planner and Cost Reduction Program Manager
- Pioneered the use of the E-Reverse Auction tool in HYSON with the cost reduction initiative for
Cardboard Boxes for the Otay plant that yielded more than $150K USD in 2008-2009. The project
involved research and selection of the e-reverse auction site as well as market analysis for additional
vendors to contest the incumbent vendor. In order to optimize the savings, the 80% of the package
was awarded to the lowest bidder and the remaining 20% was given to the incumbent in order to
incentivize competition.
- Obtained the Most Savings as a Result of Reverse Auction with Stainless Steel Springs & Spring
Wire. Awarded the supply contract to an Indian company thru an auction where three major mills
participated for the Stainless Steel Wire package. Savings estimated over $2.0 M USD in 2009-2010.
- Auctioned and awarded thru a normal bid process the print package of our three most important
catalogs. The selection process considered the criteria of position in the industry of the vendor,
catalog of current customers, quality of work to be made and that the jobs met our demanding time
line. The total savings added to $65K USD per year and made our catalogs single sourced with one of
the biggest printers of the world 2009-on going.
- Implemented thru a rigorous selection process a local janitorial company to service the three plants
located in Tijuana. The companies were investigated, background checked and validated in order to
participate in the selection process. Currently it has yielded more than $75K USD in savings with less
personnel rotation and optimization of resources 2008-on going.
- Coordinated the team that awarded and implemented at a corporate level a single source of Office
Supplies (all locations in USA and Mexico) with a paperless invoicing and ordering system that
optimized the accounts payable process by 50% on the time invested to process such invoices and
eliminated a not needed receipt process in the warehouse. Savings estimated above $100K from
2009 to YTD in Mexico alone, plus $125K USD in the US 2009-on going.
- Reduced by 25% (14 vendors) the supplier base within a one fiscal year, consolidating our business
with vendors that offered a Supply Chain Supply solution model (80%) and only left 20% with a
discrete purchase process. This helped to reduce more than $25K USD in expediting fees and
$230.5K in long keeping material in the Otay plant 2008-on going.
- Responsible along with my team of buyers in Otay in the implementation of the new Vendor Managed
Inventory contract with 80% of our vendors that were under a Supply Chain Solution model in
compliance with our corporate legal department’s time line.
- Implementation of Regla Octava for our Stainless Steel wire sourcing from India in 2007. Savings
totaling $1.3M from implementation to Year To Date. This program benefited two plants in Tijuana.
Samsung Electronics, Computer Division 2001 – 2005
Purchasing Supervisor / Program Manager for the Sun Microsystems Project
- Managed the Sun Microsystems account for Samsung maintaining a 2 day lead time upon receipt of
order on 95% of the orders from our customers. This was made possible thru an aggressive materials
plan, a 24/5 production schedule and zero defect rate in our production lines
- Maintained a 98% on time delivery of components thru an integrated Supply Chain Model. This meant
having our vendors participate in the forecast review meetings in order to expedite or push out
schedules as appropriate.
- Managed a team of 4 buyers, coaching and training them. The results are that two of the team were
promoted to higher positions within Samsung: one assistant manager and purchasing supervisor for
aftermarket replacement parts.
- In charge of the Sun Microsystems project kick off without any material shortages or lines down
during the first stage of the project. This resulted in the renovation of the contract by Sun
Microsystems to Samsung to produce the second generation of the project.

Integrated Logistic Systems (a division of TTI, Inc.) 1999 – 2001

Program Administrator for Passive Supply Chain
- Managed +600 passive electronic parts with Solectron and +800 passive electronic parts without
causing a line down in any of the two accounts during my tenure. The supply of parts was done in a
Just In Time basis with up to 6 deliveries of parts a week and bonded stock of 12 weeks: 4 weeks in
our warehouse, 4 weeks in transit and 4 weeks in our corporate HQ warehouse.
- Managed effectively both programs resulting that the materials management of both accounts added
about 25% more part numbers to each account. Additionally, I was able to secure more than $250K
USD in other sales for our corporate office of out of program parts. This was product of the close
contact kept with not only my primary buyers but also other buyers in other programs.

Turbos y Refacciones de Guadalajara 1998 – 1999

Purchasing and Marketing and New Business Development Manager
- Developed 4 additional product families in accordance to customer’s needs. This was made possible
to a market research with our main customers thru a survey which asked what other lines had to be
added. Then the analysis was based upon ROI of what lines were more profitable to add to our
catalog. The result was sales duplicated in a year and went from $215K USD a year to $530K USD
- Promoted the increase of our presence of the company thru the conclusions derived from the market
analysis. It was expanded to 5 major states in the western region of Mexico: San Luis Potosi,
Guanajuato, Sinaloa, Nayarit & Zacatecas. This was done thru the hiring of local vendors and the
establishment of small branches like in San Luis Potosi and Celaya. The outcome was an increase of
$120K USD in net sales per year
- Developed a corporate image for the company establishing an identity with corporate colors, logo and
identity. This helped the company differentiate ourselves from the competition. The imaged helped
our customers identify easily our presence and our sales team on the road and provided a
differentiator in a very competitive industry such as after market diesel spare parts distribution.
