Present Simple

1. What does it mean?

It states that something happens as a habit or regularly (Action)

In the Present Simple tense we use DO or DOES and Question

I get up everyday very early. I have a shower and then breakfast. I like milk very much so
I usually have that. Then, I go to work. I work from Monday to Saturday and don’t have
much time for eating. I don’t like coffee, so I drink a lot of tea during the day but I like
pastries, so I often have a piece of cake or some biscuits. I usually go from work to home
at about 5:30. I get changed and make dinner. I’m into salads a lot and I like to mix them
with fish or meat. In short, I like simple, easy things to eat. I don’t make elaborate meals.
Then, at night I usually go out with friends, but I get home very early, so I’m usually in
bed by 10:30.

The verb TO BE implies that something or someone exists:

It changes form according to the pronoun/subject that precedes it:

When using the verb TO BE, we only add the word “not” to make the
sentence negative. No extra auxiliary verb is needed.

11. PRESENT PROGRESSIVE/CONTINUOUS

We use Present progressive tense to talk about things that are


happening right now.

Tom is playing soccer now.

In this tense we use the verb TO BE and we add –ing at the end of the
verb.
