PETER
I want to tell you about my
friend Peter. He grew up in a
strict Christian home and began
questioning his faith in his mid-
teens. His questions turned to
serious doubt, and he eventual-
ly decided to renounce his faith
all-together. I crossed paths
with Peter during the first week
of classes. We talked for an
hour and he told me his story
and explained the issues hin-
dering him from faith in God. He
told me he enjoyed our conver-
sation, and I told him about a
Spirituality Discussion Group I
was trying to start on campus.
The group meets weekly at one
of pubs on campus. Peter is the
only person who has come to
the group.
It has been a joy getting to
know him and being able to ask
each other challenging ques-
tions about Christianity and
Atheism. I don’t know God’s
plan for Peter, but I think he
truly wants to believe but just
can’t. He has come to a few of
our men’s hang out times, and I
hope through that, God will
break down the emotional barri-
ers that were put up from his
strict up-bringing. Today, I gave
him Tim Keller’s The Reason for
God. Maybe in a few
years...maybe decades, he will
be able to trust Christ as his
King. Thank you for praying for
him.
Mid-year Conference
Our movement builders have
volunteered to take charge of
promotion for our annual Mid-
year Conference (MYC). MYC is
a pivotal event for our students
to attend as it is so powerful a
time for those that come. They
can get a taste of what it will
look like if their campus had a
movement of disciples making
disciples who make disciples.
They get to see Christian com-
munity like no other and experi-
ence training in how to build
and train others in key Biblical
concepts. MYC provides a fire
that propels our students to
reach out to their peers in the
2nd semester. Our MB’s have
set a faith goal of having 10
students attend this year. Im-
agine if we had 10 students at
MYC —all who God ignites a
passion to share their faith with
their friends, family, and even
strangers! Please pray for 10 or
more students from Newcastle
to come to MYC and for their
lives to be forever changed
from the week.
