Thank you Jack! A debt of gratitude is owed to Jack Fay for volunteering to
repair and refurbish our Spratley Street entrance sign. It appears as new and
should last us some years.
President’s Letter
PCCO: IMPORTANT YOU ATTEND: As announced at the April WPVCL meeting, members of
the Portsmouth community are trying to form a Portsmouth Council of Civic Organizations. This
is intended to be an umbrella organization for the purpose of sharing info and effort amongst the
various organizations to solve common community problems and to promote a spirit of
volunteerism. It is important that you, as a member of our WPV league consider whether our
league shall join this organization. Please come to the May meeting to learn the latest info
regarding this effort and to ask your questions and voice your opinion regarding this issue. I
expect to seek a motion and a vote as to whether WPVCL shall join PCCO. I will present the
proposed by-laws of that organization.
WPV hotmail: If you have not yet done so, please send an email message to
wpvwatch@hotmail.com with “subscribe” in the subject line. Kathy will capture your email
address and add it to the list for messages regarding security and safety in our neighborhood. It
is convenient, painless and FREE! We use this email system to inform and to be informed. If
you see something about which you would like to alert your neighbors throughout the ‘hood,
just send a message to the hotmail address above and Kathy can broadcast it to all on the list.
It is not necessary to be a member of the community league to report or to receive messages.
This service is available to all residents of West Park View.
Visit the WPV website at http://www.westparkview.com There you will find an increasing
amount of current info regarding our neighborhood, including but not limited to: by-laws,
summary of Robert’s Rules of Order, the most recent newsletter. Eventually we will add: events
calendar, minutes of the most recent meeting of the Community League, membership list.
Approximately fifty percent of our neighbors have access to the internet in their homes. It
seems reasonable to use this medium as a means for more timely communication to those who
have capability to receive it in addition to the standard printed newsletter.
Our Front entrance sign is in the shop for repairs and repainting; return in two weeks.
