Equipment and testing:
o Phillips Agilent Sonos 5500 ultrasound machine for echos, bubble, and carotid
ultrasound studies.
o Cambridge Heart EKG & treadmill utilized with a Stress Test study or 2 stage S
tress Echo study which would utilize the Sonos listed above.
o Event Monitors, 24 or 48 hour Holter Monitors which downloads to the ACS softw
are to read the holter study once complete. Read and highlight EKG abnormalitie
s and print out the results for the cardiologist to finalize results.
o Summet Doppler / Life Doppler used for a 2-cuff ABI with or without stressing
depending on results.
o NextGen software to input patient results from the studies so the Cardiologist
could dictate and finalize patient results.

Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, FL - A hospital general ultrasound department
responsible for doctor ordered in-patient and out-patient studies that include O
B/GYN, abdomen, carotids and small parts. From neonates to the elderly with dir
ect reporting to the reading radiologist with confidentiality.
Scanned & observed via transabdminal/vaginal
o Assisted with ultrasound guided thoracentesis, pleurocentesis, thyroid, liver,
and kidney biopsies.
o Observed neonatal transcranial scans
o Carotid study included CCA, ECA, ICA, and Vertebrals in proximal, mid, and dis
tal to show 2D trans and long, color with Doppler measurements of peak systolic
and end diastolic velocities. The bulb and bifurcation were documented as well.
o Abdominal scanned supine, LLD and RLD to included the AO proximal showing take
offs, mid and distal. Pancreas head, body, and tail were documented. RT and LT
lobes of the liver including caudate; any abnormalities where measured and text
ure noted, gallbladder with wall measurement and document sludge or stones, meas
ure CBD, measure RT and LT kidneys, cortex and hilum, and lastly the spleen. Pe
diatric kidneys were scanned prone.
Cardiology Consultants, Pensacola, FL - An outpatient Echo, Stress Echo and Vasc
ular facility responsible for scanning the heart, upper and lower extremity arte
rial and venous, ABIs, and carotid studies a doctors order with confidentiality.
Scan or observed the ultrasound procedure. Depending on the patient history or
observations during the study an additional protocol would be added, i.e. for M
S we would observe any doming of the anterior MV leaflet for the hockey stick ap
pearance, thickened MV leaflets, decreased orifice, anterior motion of the poste
rior MV leaflet, LAE, RVH, RVE, flattened IVS; a sign of PHTN. If PHTN suspecte
d then the IVC and hepatics were observed for dilation and blood flow. I accomp
anied one of the doctors to multiple TEE procedures for observation.
Sacred Heart & Vascular, Pensacola, FL - A hospital ultrasound department respon
sible for doctor ordered in and out-patient studies that include upper and lower
arterial/venous studies, segmental pressure/ABIs , and Echocardiograms includin
g stress and TEE. Our patients were neonate to geriatric. Confidentiality was
a must.
Venous studies were done to rule out DVT from the CFV, GSV completely down the
leg, SFV, POP, Post Tib all with augmentation and compressions.
Arterial Doppler study included CFA, DFA proximal only, SFA, POP, Post Tib & Do
rsalis Pedis all peak systolic Doppler measurements taken. Studies included gra
fts, dialysis grafts, & fistulas.
