This is a letter I have not been looking forward to writing. I will be


giving up command of the battalion on 6 May and it is going to be
difficult to walk away from such a great group of people. That
said, it’s time for a new battalion commander, and his name is
Lieutenant Colonel Dave Bardorf. He and I have been working
together closely to effect a smooth transition, and I think you’re
going to be very happy with him. My husband, Henri, and I are
heading to Norfolk, Virginia where I will be the commanding
officer of the headquarters at Marine Forces Command.
INSIDE THIS ISSUE:
It has been an honor and a privilege to be at the helm of this
Commanding Officer 1 diverse and multi-talented battalion. The Marines, Sailors,
Sergeant Major 2 Soldiers and civilians of Headquarters and Support Battalion,
Chaplain 3 Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune are second to none. Leading
Family Readiness Officer 3 the smart warriors here has been a tremendous experience for

their experiences. These Marines are the finest our nation has to
offer.

to a new company that will be known as Security Captain O. M. Chaparro
Company. We are working on the transition process of Captain, US Marine Corps

and readiness issues: AT/FP training, increasing medical
readiness, physical fitness, and BST testing. To date we
have 102 Marines complete with their annual rifle
qualification. Over the last few weeks we have seen the
successful implementation of the Table 3 range in which
8 Marines qualified, and we currently have 4 Marines in
the Corporals’ Course.
