To use my knowledge and expertise in the sterile processing profession as inter
im management and consulting. I have many years experience in the management of
sterile processing departments and have had several consulting engagements which
have had positive results.

Supervisors, and new hires , monitoring their orientation and training.
October 13, 2009 to present:
St. Mary Medical Center , BE Smith Consulting Langhorne, Pa A medium sized Med
ical Center .
Asked to review the present processes and work flow in the SPD Department due to
some issues that arose last spring. At present I am mentoring the Supervisor to
develop her into a possible Manager in the future. Developing an in-service an
d education program to educate the staff using certification training. The hospi
tal is leaning towards requiring certification of all staff. Developed a new det
ailed orientation and training form. Re -educated the staff as I found issues wi
th specific processes. Made various recommendations that I feel would bring this
SPD up to standards.

Loyola University Medical Center- Maywood, Illinois. Soyring Consulting
Interim SPD Manager-500 + bed , 27 OR's , trauma facility. Managed a new SPD, de
veloping a new staffing plan. Improved communications between OR and SPD, impro
ved the morale of staff. Improved productivity , involved the staff . Targeted a
bsenteeism and tardiness. Orientated the new Manager upon his arrival.
September 29, 2008 to May 1 ,2009
Soyring Consulting as an interim CSS Manager at Northwestern Memorial Hospital i
n Chicago, Illinois since September 22, 2008. A 800 bed facility with an averag
e of 130 OR cases a day.70 FTE's. Over saw three separate SPD Departments, ran t
he day to day operations, and decreased the use of over time. The Medical Cente
r had a big issue with wet loads, found the root cause and basically eliminated
the issue. Orientated new Manager upon his arrival.

Independent consultant for SMIG, in Sterile Processing Department at St. Francis
Medical Center Monroe, La. Acted as a mentor to the new Manager Sterile Proces
sing Department. Brought her up to date on AAMI requirements ands IAHCSSM standa
rds. Re adjusted staffing to meet the start and ends of surgical cases, implemen
ted 24 hour staffing. Reduced the number of un assembled trays left in the morn
ing,.

Interim SPD Manager Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, Pomona, NJ
Managed a SPD Department while Medical Center was looking for a new Manager.
Developed a better rapport with OR, identified issues based around the large num
ber of turn over instrumentation. Educated the Surgeons and was able to increase
the number of instrumentation to reduce the turn arounds and flashing of instru
mentation.

ement, a 24/7 responsibility. A trauma 2 facility, dealt with high volume ortho/
neuro cases. Developed a materials management system for the Surgical suite.

cian role in the OR to facilitate a continuum of service. Developed a SPD Coordi
nator who monitored, tracked and ordered ortho/neuro loaners including inventory
and replacement of implants. Developed an exchange cart system revolving around
each vendor.
