As Chief Mate, I was responsible for all cargo operations, maintaining safety re
cords, training, and meeting all Coast Guard regulations as outlined in the "Cod
e of Federal Regulations". As Second Mate, I maintained all navigational publica
tions, as well trip navigation plans. This included a six month trip (Hawaii, Au
stralia, through the Panama Canal into Norfolk Virginia).

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Planned and organized the expansion and modernization of port facilities in the
Southeast. This included presenting project plans to government agencies, naval
architects and owners. RESULT: 50% increase of material imports, while cutti
ng operating costs with the implementation of alternative plans and strategies.
Successfully prepared and concluded ISO 9002 certification for a merchant marine
vessel. Developed the full-spectrum of procedures and documentation from navig
ation and cargo operations safety to cost-effective waste reduction measures. R

Developed and implemented a new design for a West Coast port by coordinating com
