Highlights of Contributions to Process Improvement
* Co-developed process to track incoming parts, identify nonconformance (defects
) by supplier, and provide alternate lot sampling (skip lots) to determine criti
cal characteristics. Payoff: This receiving inspection watch list streamlined
parts inspection process and minimized liability to Boston Gear and customers. I
nspection plan also improved timing on receiving inspection from an average 15.6
days to 1.4 days, 2006 over previous year, as of May 2006.
* Improved disposition process for nonconformance product through collaboration
with cross-functional groups (MRB meetings). Reduced suspect/defective material
in hold area from $22,000+ to less than $3,000, with an average age of 6 days an
d maximum product age of 17 days. Established matrix to document process, apply
ing ISO 9001/2000.
* Led upgrade of companys calibration system to ensure appropriate location, use
and storage of all gages.
* Conducted review of companys supplier rating plan to establish a grading syste
m for all suppliers. Also compiling information of available resources for use i
n supplier rating plan.
* Facilitated (co-created) development/implementation of a quality auditing and
disposition process which expedited hold time. Payoff: Reduced DMR product hold
time from 33 days to less than 11 days (current average: 14 days), with project
ed downward trend of 4 to 5 days. Commended in memorandum (e-mail) by superviso
r.
* Assisted engineering with design modification to improve quality and assembly
of parts. Recommended changes in parts design which reduced production time and
cost.
