WORK EXPERIENCE:
June 2009 to Present:
Executive Office Manager for Habitat for Humanity Sierra Vista Area.
Habitat for Humanity is an internationally known non-profit organization devoted
to building safe, decent and affordable housing for those who reside in substan
dard housing. In this position, I provide overall leadership to both staff and
volunteers. I manage the day-to-day operations of the Affiliate and report to t
he President of the Board of Directors. I manage the budget and all financial tr
ansactions, including expenditures, deposits, account reconciliations, while ens
uring that all entries are made in accordance with general acceptable accounting
procedures. In addition, I set the agenda for all board meetings, in accordanc
e with requests from the board members, attend all board meetings, record and fi
nalize accurate minutes for Habitat's permanent records. I am responsible for a
ll administrative duties, including ensuring that the Affiliate is in compliance
with Habitat International's Covenant and Quality Standards, or own Bylaws, and
other policies as imposed on charitable organizations. I supervise a part-time
person in my office, and assist the Board with strategic and long-term planning
. I also assist all committees with the Board, helping them to achieve their go
als, including fundraising and selection of families to receive homes.
September 1993 to October 2009
Self-Employed as Owner/Operator of 3-Way Store & Station
3-Way Store & Station is a country-type general store and gas station located in
a rural area in Greenlee County, Arizona. As an owner/operator, I was involved
in all aspects of the business, including: hands-on clerk in the store; all boo
kkeeping and accounting practices utilized by the business (i.e., payroll, finan
cial statements, income and expense, etc.) utilizing "Peachtree Accounting" soft
ware; employee management, including hiring/firing; training, with an emphasis o
n customer service; supervision of all employees; scheduling; inventory ordering
and control. My ex-husband and I grew this business from $750k in sales when w
e purchased it, to two million dollars per year. My reason for leaving and movi
ng to Sierra Vista was a divorce, and wanting to be closer to my family, most of
whom live in this area.
1975 to September 1993
Bank One (formally Valley National Bank of Arizona), no Chase Bank
At Bank One, I began my career as a secretary and advanced through the branch ba
nking system to Assistant Manager. I held positions including Business Developm
ent Officer, Personal Banker, Loan Officer, and Secretary. During my tenure wit
h the bank, my primary focus was on selling bank products and services to potent
ial and existing clients, in order to expand the bank's portfolio and, thus, its
revenue. I also did some public speaking, representing Bank One, to groups of
people on subjects ranging from budgeting to career orientation. In 1992, I was
honored for my customer service skills, bank knowledge and other criteria, with
a trip to the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. I am the only employee in A
rizona that received that award; even though it was awarded quite some time ago,
my level of performance and dedication have not changed.
EDUCATION
Graduated from high school with honors; approximately two years' college credit
hours, taking primarily business, accounting and other finance-related courses.
