INTRODUCTION
This document provides Quick Start information for Transmission Director X v3.6.x
(TDX 3.6), including installation instructions and a comparison between this and
previous versions of the application.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The SOCKS and HTTPS proxy address and port options must be configured if a
SOCKS v4 firewall or HTTPS proxy server is present on the network. Windows users
may configure these settings in Preferences before logging in. Macintosh users must
adjust these settings using the Network Control Panel, and TDX will only display the
current system configuration.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
Following are the minimum and recommended hardware requirements:
INSTALLATION
Launch the installer application and follow the instructions. It is not necessary to remove
previous versions. The application will be installed in the following locations by default:
The following information is required:
User Name: The Service Login User Name
Password: The Service Login Password
Server IP Address: The IP Address of the File Transfer Appliance, “wamnet.com” if
connecting to a US Internet Gateway resource, or “wamnet.co.uk”
if connecting to a UK Internet Gateway resource
(only required for the initial setup)
Resource ID: The Resource ID (or Site ID) of the File Transfer Appliance (only
required if the Login is associated with multiple Resource IDs)
The Login screen is displayed when the TDX application is launched. The Login screen
requests the User Name, Password and Server IP Address as defined above. After
clicking the “Submit” button the user will be connected to the Resource ID associated
with the User Name. If the User Name is associated with multiple Resources, a popup
screen will display a selection list. Once a Resource is selected, the selection will be
remembered. For subsequent logins, the user will be connected to the Resource ID last
selected.
Once login is successful, the Address Book, Inbox (Receive Dock) and Sent
Packages (Send Dock) will be displayed, and the user is able to send and receive
Packages. The application will initially run with the default appearance and behavior.
There are Preferences that can be changed within the application to suit individual
requirements.

The Sending Dock Cache Configuration in WAM!NET Portal must be enabled for the Resource to preview files from the
Sent Packages view (Send Dock).
2
In theory there may be no limit to the Package size; however, in practice there are constraints
(i.e. available disk space on the File Transfer Appliance and network bandwidth, to name just two.)
3
SAVVIS Technical Support is able to configure the File Transfer Appliance for compatibility with
Custom Job Tickets.
