Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to provide a framework within which you can:

 To understand how Human Resources are managed within an organisation

 Assess the importance of managing Human Resources in the running of an


organisation

This assignment should achieve the following criteria:

P1 - describe the recruitment documentation used in a selected organisation


P2 - describe the main employability, personal and communication skills
required when applying for a specific job role
M2 - assess the importance of employability, and personal skills in the
recruitment and retention of staff in a selected organisation
Scenario
You are a manager at a local business (your selected organisation) and have been invited to give a
career talk to Year 11 students about recruitment and selection within your organisation. Your
presentation should include the content from the first task, which you will prepare in a group of 3 or 4.
Each member of the group will then prepare a written page outlining what their contribution was in the
presentation.

Task 1 (P1) - Date for completion….. Tuesday 1st March


Recruitment and Selection Documents:

Your presentation should include the following (minimum of 10 Slides):

◊ A brief introduction to the business you have selected to represent

◊ A summary of the types of employment (jobs) within the business

◊ An explanation of the recruitment process with emphasis on the purpose and contents of job
descriptions - this should be supported with annotated examples of job descriptions from the
selected organisation

◊ An explanation of the purpose and content of employment contacts. This should be supported with an
annotated example of an employment contract from the selected organisation.

Skills required for applicants to a specific role:

PREPARE A LEAFLET OR HANDOUT GIVING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO HELP


APPLICANTS KNOW WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR A SPECIFIED JOB IN YOUR
ORGANISATION.

◊ A description of one specific job within the organisation you have selected to represent - this
could relate to one of the job descriptions used in task 1

◊ An explanation of the skills required from candidates applying for this job - this should include:
employability skills, personal skills, communication skills

Task 3 (Merit 2) - Date for completion….. Tuesday 8th March

Assessing the importance of employability, and personal skills in the recruitment and
retention of employees

Prepare a table of appropriate skills and discuss how important they are to your organisation

Discuss what would happen if the applicant did not have each of these skills?

Show how important each skill is to your particular organisation and that particular job.

You also need to consider these skills in relation to how easy or difficult it will be to recruit an appropriate
employee and keeping them within your business (recruitment and retention).
