“Home”
A documentary of Yann Arthus-Bertrand

A documentary film “Home” is documented by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. It shows the

diversity of life on Earth and how humanity is threatening the ecological balance from the
beginning of the earth. At the very beginning of the documentary we know that Human
existence is the miracle of earth. The earth originated about 4 billion years ago with fire,
cold and water and we people started our life on the earth about 2000 years ago. This
legislation focus the story of humans and animals existence and our planet, from the
origin of single-celled algae cells, to the current state of humans and states across the
globe, and showing the drastic climate changes of the present. The film sticks to the
theme of how all organisms and the Earth are linked in a crucial and delicate balance.
Even while 80% of the world’s resources are being used by only 20% of the population
and the impact have to bear by everyone and everything.
The major part of the documentary has the human-oriented scope, showing the
agricultural revolution, harnessing of oil, formation of industry, creation of mega-cities
and the largest rich-poor gap ever. The degrading impacts of our past are touched on and
how every human, whether from a developed or third-world country, will be affected in
the future. It also shows how melting glaciers, rising sea levels and changing weather
patterns are ravaging the people who have least to do with climate change. But also know
how it soon will affect rich populous areas.

Information which are important to all that provide by the documentary -

• The world spends 12 times more on military expenditure than on aid to

developing country.
• 5000 people a day die because of dirty drinking water.
• 1 billion people have no access to safe drinking water.
• Nearly one billion people are going hungry.
• Over 50% of grain traded around the world is used for animal feed or biofuels.

2
• 405 of arable land have suffered long term damage.
• Every year 13 millions hectares of forest disappear.
• Three quarters of fishing grounds are exhausted, finished or in dangerous decline.
• The average temperatures of the last 15 years have been the highest ever recorded.
• The ice cap is 40% thinner than 40 years ago.
• There may be at least 200 million climate refugees by 2050.

We are on exceptional time. Scientists show us that we have only 10 years to change the
way of our life style, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic
evolution of the Earth's climate. The stakes are too high for us and for our children. This
documentary shows us how we people are destroying our planet gradually. It makes us
aware about the future condition of our world. The documentary treated us to come
together and make the change in the earth. Still we have lots of world forest, thousands of
rivers, lands, lakes etc. We know the solution and we have the power to change our
future.
At last we can say that “Home” the documentary provides us lots of information which
we have to know. So every body should watch this because it knows us about the relation
between us and earth because the only thing is shearing, coordination and bond with
nature.
