Significant Work Accomplishments


a As Human Resources Manager and Director at three different resort properties i
n Estes Park, Colorado, I was responsible for recruiting, hiring and training ne
w employees for year round and seasonal positions. I worked to lay a foundation
with new employees in the areas of company policies and procedures, safety prac
tices, sexual harassment policies, drug testing and background check policies, a
nd customer service, then worked with department heads and supervisors to build
on those foundations with the specifics for each department. I also trained supe
rvisors and department heads on hiring, discipline, and termination practices in
cluding the importance of documentation, avoiding interviewing pitfalls, and imp
rovement of leadership and management skills.
a I served as Payroll Administrator in each resort, and was responsible for admi
nistration of payroll and benefits such as vacation, sick, and holidays for sala
ried and hourly employees. I organized and maintained all employee records and
files. I dealt with unemployment claims as they came in, and was involved with
several disputes with former employees over the outcome of the unemployment clai
ms, leading in most cases to successful defense of the resortsa position in the
dispute.
a I managed Workeras Compensation claims and files at the Holiday Inn, Estes Val
ley Resorts and at The Stanley Hotel. I was responsible for investigating the c
laims, filing the correct forms in a timely manner, and worked with the insuranc
e companies and the injured employees to return them to duty, in some instances
a modified duty, as soon as possible. I was also responsible for Benefits Admin
istration in the resorts, making sure employees understood their eligibility sta
tus and benefit options.
