Senior HR Operations Specialist
In the Pension area -
* Provides pre-retirement calculations and consultation services to Company empl
oyees considering retirement including Supplemental Executive Retirement Pay cal
culations for the Company's executives.
* Generates and notarizes retirement applications, federal and state income tax
elections, direct deposit authorizations and retiree medical deduction authoriza
tion forms for all retiring employees.
* Provides Retirement Board approval (as a designated sub-committee member) of a
ll employee retirements.
* Builds payee records and creates complete Pension Payroll file in PeopleSoft f
or approximately 2,000 Company retirees. Also processes other monthly retiremen
t benefit changes such as retiree deaths, the addition of surviving spouses and
the creation of alternate payees under Qualified Domestic Relations Orders. Tas
k involves balancing a monthly pension payroll in excess of $3 million.
* Coordinates all Pension Plan administration on behalf of the Company's Retirem
ent Board including keeping the Retirement Board meeting minutes and paying the
plan's administrative expenses.
* Utilizes signing authority to fund the monthly pension payroll.
* Trains other staff in the use of new technology to develop a successor.
In the 401(k) area -
* Manages administration of the Company's 401(k) Plans.
* Reviews and approves the bi-weekly wire transfer of approximately $500,000 in
employee and matching employer contributions and employee loan payments to the r
ecordkeeper.
* Reviews and approves all Hardship Withdrawals from these plans.
* Resolves all participant issues that arise due to operational issues that occu
r with our payroll vendor and/or our recordkeeper. In this regard, drafts all s
elf-correction memos for legal review and approval.
* Provides data for and obtains and reviews Non-Discrimination and Benefits Righ
ts and Features test results from vendor.
In the Compliance area -
* Manages the audit and 5500 filing process for the Company's sixteen union and
management benefit plans - including the Company's pension, 401(k), group medica
l, group life, VEBA, LTD, dental, vision, travel accident, accidental death and
dismemberment, health care reimbursement and employee assistance plans.
In the Benefits area -
* Assists other staff in resolving benefits questions raised by employees and re
tirees of the Company.
