AZAN SOUND SNOOZE OPTION

The complete azan for all prayers can be played at
every azan time. The azan volume can be adjusted
using the azan volume switch.
When the azan sound is turned OFF, the icon

NOTE When any alarm is set at the time of any
azan, that azan sound will be disabled. In
particular, this shoud be considered when
setting Fajr alarm to ring exactly at Fajr
azan time.
When the switch is turned ON, the clock will be in
snooze mode (and the icon will be displayed).
In this mode, when any alarm rings, pressing STOP
button makes the alarm ring again after five minutes
will (notice that the icon will be flashing).
If you wish to stop the alarm in this mode, you can press
and hold STOP button for few seconds. The soft beep
indicates that the alarm is stopped (notice also that the
icon will stop flashing).
NOTE Pressing STOP button for few seconds can
also be used to cancel all alarms coming
within the next 20 minutes.

Programmed azan times calculation are based on:

Arab World Local Taqweems To set the Daylight Saving Time for any city (except
Indian sub-continent Islamic Scientific University cities in the Arabian peninsula), press and hold the ,

 AZAN SAFETY TIME
As needed, any azan time can be adjusted forward or
backward by a fixed number of minutes, as follows:
• Press and hold SET
• Move the switch to position, then release SET
• Use or to set the safety time for fajr azan. Notice
that “Fajr” icon is flashing.
• Press SET to adjust Shuroq safety time, ... etc.
• When finished, return switch back to position.
NOTE After selecting any city, the safety times are all
reset, and need to be re-adjusted if needed.
PROGRAMMING NEW CITY
You can program any location around the world in this
clock. If your city is already among the listed cities, then
follow the steps on page 6 .
To program other locations around the world, refer to:

Example: To program Lausanne city in Switzerland
which is 2 minutes before Geneve azan times:
1) Select Geneve city code (which is "41-22").
2) Adjust all azan safety times by (-2) minutes.
NOTE If Fajr, Asr, or Isha azan times are not correct,
select the appropriate taqweem system.

FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS
Q: Azan times are not correct. Why?
A: Make sure you have correctly set the following:
a) city code, b) Gregorian calendar, c) Day light
saving time option, d) Taqweem system (azan
time calculation methods).
Q: Can other cities be programmed in this clock?
A: Yes, any location can be programmed (page 14).
Q: How can I set the daily alarm so that it will not ring
on Sundays?
A: Follow the weekend setting on page 9 and select
the little symbol in step 2.
Q: How can I find out the astronomical beginning of
Ramadhan at Mecca for any year?
A: Set the Gregorian calendar to the expected date,
then check the astronomically calculated Hijri
calendar.
Q: I can not hear the Azan sound. Why?
A: Make sure the alkaline batteries are not weak
and also the volume control switch is turned ON .
Q: The azan sound is working for all prayers except
for Fajr azan. Why?
A: It is possible that Fajr alarm is set to ring exactly
at the same time as Fajr azan.

AZAN TIME CALCULATION
Fajr and Isha times are calculated by either an angle of
the sun below the horizon or by an interval of time.
This clock is programmed to use the local method or
the most widely used system for your city. However,
you can change to another system, as follows:
Selecting Hanafi method for Asr:
Press and hold SET while moving the switch to .

(which means Hanafi) or which means regular Asr
time. Notice that Asr azan time will be flashing (and
changing) during Hanafi setting mode.
Selecting Fajr and Isha calculation methods:
Press and hold SET then move the setting switch to the
position then release SET and press it again.
Use or to select the desired system as follows:
Local taqweem
World Islamic League
ISNA (Islamic Society of North America)
Fajr time is 1:30 hours before Shuroq and
Isha time is 1:30 hours after Magrib.
NOTE After selecting another city, the clock will be
reset to use the original programmed
taqweem for the newly selected city.

HIJRI CALANDER CALCULATION
The Hijri calendar in this clock is calculated based on
the astronomical moon sighting at Makkah. Accordingly,
It is re-calculated after setting the Gregorian calendar.
This unique feature helps to determine the Gregorian
dates for the corresponding Hijri-based Islamic events.
For example, to know when is Eid Al-Fitr for the year
1426, set the Gregorian date to 3/11/2005, then check
whether the calculated Hijri date is 1/10/1426 or not.
BATTERIES
This clock is powered by two AA size alkaline batteries.
Replace batteries when LOW BAT icon appear on
screen. You will notice that the azan sound starts
skipping and the screen becomes faded.
Alkaline batteries can last more than six months when
azan is played regularly with maximum volume. And if
azan is turned OFF, the alkaline batteries can last more
than three year.
