IT Works with Graduate Schools to Create New Smart Classrooms. Information Technology staff is currently working with the School of Law, the School of Public Policy, Construction and Campus Planning, and Facilities, Management, and Planning to create two new smart classrooms. IT's spring 2011 TechQual+ survey revealed that students desired faculty to use more technology in their teaching. These smart classrooms are the rst step to supporting faculty in their use of technology in the classroom. Renovations to these classrooms are taking place this summer and will be ready for use this fall. Information Technology Welcomes New Colleagues to the IT Team. NetworkID Password Change Process Made Easier. All Pepperdine faculty, staff, and students receive a NetworkID, which is used to access online resources such as WaveNet, University libraries, or Courses. The NetworkID website is used to reset a password, update a NetworkID prole, or redirect Pepperdine email. On May 20, Information Technology's Enterprise Information Systems' team member Sean Fife implemented updates to the NetworkID website to increase usability and enhance the user experience. Visit the updated page at https://networkid.pepperdine.edu. Tracking of Grant and Funding Proposals Made Easier Through PeopleSoft. IT's Enterprise Information Systems' staff member Ronit Weiss partnered with Gail Chester from the Ofce of Research and Sponsored Programs to implement a new PeopleSoft application that tracks faculty grants proposals and funding. Prior to this, proposals were tracked using spreadsheets and Access databases. This new PeopleSoft application improves data quality and efciently tracks the progress of proposals. To learn more about this project, contact Ronit Weiss at ronit.weiss@pepperdine.edu. IT and Payroll Partner to Reduce Processing Payroll Time. IT's Enterprise Information Systems' team member Brian Fujitani partnered with Susannah Stratford from Payroll to reduce the time to transfer data from Kronos, the University's timekeeping system, to PeopleSoft. With more than 2,500 employees at Pepperdine, the transfer was usually an overnight process that took about four hours to complete. By optimizing the underlining code, the process now only takes 30 minutes. This improvement has allowed Payroll to streamline the payroll process. To learn more about this project, contact Brian Fujitani at brian.fujitani@pepperdine.edu.
