Executive Summary
As a part of our MBA course curriculum, we are authorized by our course instructor to conduct research on Effectiveness of MBA Program of AIUB. This is a descriptive research. Our study includes sample size of 50 and convenience sampling method has been used to select samples. To measure the effectiveness of MBA program of AIUB, three variables have been used: (1) available facilities for MBA students (2) knowledge growth of the students and (3) MBA holders acceptance in the job market. Closed ended questionnaire has been used as research instruments and for data analysis SPSS v.17 has been used. Our Study reveals that 68 percent of the respondents agree that they MBA program of AIUB is a value addition program. Thus, we can conclude students are learning something new. 58 percent of the respondents are well satisfied with the course curriculum of MBA program. 58 percent of the respondents think that MBA degree from AIUB helps them to get better job. Thus, we can conclude that MBA program of AIUB turns out to be effective. Our study also reveals some dissatisfaction of MBA program of AIUB. We also find that 60 percent of the students either neutral or suspicious regarding the faculties teaching style. It urges for managements deep considerations. Library facilities are not found convenience by the students. Fifty eight percent of the respondents conclude library facilities either non-satisfactory or average. Course should be designed such a way that can encourage students to use library materials so that true evaluation can be conducted. Forty eight percent of the respondents find the lack of opportunity of practical exposure of MBA curriculum. Factory visit or office visit can be arranged during semester and ask students to write report on it so that students can have idea about the job environment and practices and relate their theories with the practices.

Due to time constraint we able to take only 50 samples which also lower our research reliability but manages to stay within the acceptable level. There is a good opportunity to carry forward our study if any future researchers want. Further research can be possible using new sets of variables, sample size or using new statistical tools or even modifying the conceptual frame-work of our study.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction of the Study: American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh. Like any other good university, AIUB emphasizes on quality education. By ensuring quality education, AIUB can give its students the necessary skills and knowledge so that they can compete not only locally but also internationally. As a MBA student of AIUB, it is our responsibility to share our views of its program curriculum with the management so that an effective and modern MBA curriculum can be designed for the students of AIUB and make AIUB to help to achieve its vision. Thus, our study is intended to measure the effectiveness of MBA program of AIUB. The title of our study is Effectiveness of MBA program of AIUB.

1.2 Research Objective: The objective of our study is to measure the effectiveness of MBA program of AIUB. This research will provide the students attitude towards its MBA program and an opportunity to identify the weakness and improvements that should be taken into account to ensure quality MBA degree provided by AIUB. To do this research, we have to test and analyze the followings:
9 To test effectiveness of MBA program based on available facilities. 9 To test effectiveness of MBA program based on knowledge growth. 9 To

test effectiveness of MBA based on MBA holders acceptance in job market. 9 To analyze effectiveness of MBA program based on students satisfaction of MBA program.
9 To find the relationship between effectiveness of MBA program and

knowledge growth of the students. 1.3 Statement of Problems: Our research is an applied one addressing a specific organization (AIUB) which represents the students point of view regarding their MBA program. Thus, the nature of our research is a descriptive research. Our research statement can be stated as:

Is the MBA program of AIUB satisfactory?

1.4 Scope of Research: As our research is on the Effectiveness of MBA program of AIUB the population of our research survey is the candidate enrolled for an MBA degree in AIUB. So, the scope of our research can be stated as follows: i.Our research is a descriptive research where we are trying to explain the relationship between effectiveness of MBA program and knowledge enhancements of the students. ii.Our study is concerned about the effectiveness of MBA program only. Other programs of AIUB i.e. BBA, EEE, CSE etc. are not within our interest. iii.In our research, the dependent variable is Effectiveness of MBA program and the independent variables are facilities provided by AIUB, knowledge expansion of the student, MBA holders acceptance in the job market. iv.There are twelve questions in the survey questionnaire. We have use the primary survey system to collect our data. v.Our study only concerned about the students attitude. Expert interviews (course instructor) are not covered within our study. 1.5 Limitation of the Research: i.In our research we have taken AIUB to determine the effectiveness of MBA program. MBA provided by any other institution is not our concern. ii.Due to time constraints, our study includes only 50 respondents from AIUB. Thus, our reliability test scored lower (just above the acceptable level). iii.It is a very complicated task to identify the actual variables to measure effectiveness of MBA as there are lots of variables exist to measure it. But we have taken only three variables to do our research. 1.6 Significance of the Study: As previously mentioned, our research based on the effectiveness of MBA program of AIUB, this research will help the management can design that an effective and modern MBA curriculum for the students to achieve AIUBs vision and will guide for further research in this field to ensure quality education provided by AIUB 1.7 Definition of Terms: Effectiveness Capability of producing a specific, desired effect MBA Master of Business Administration AIUB - American International University-Bangladesh

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

To understand what motivates students to enroll in an MBA program, it is important to consider the perceived value of completing this degree. Research has focused on the career impact of the MBA and on specific skills acquired in the process of earning the degree. Some research has reported specific age and experience effects on the value of the MBA in skill acquisition and in career progression (Thompson & Gui, 2000). Significant age and gender interaction effects were found for assertiveness skills acquisition, while significant age effects were found for sensitivity to differences and to diversity skills (Simpson, Sturges, Woods & Altman, 2005). Other studies, however, have found no effects for gender and experience (Zhao, Truell, Alexander & Hill, 2006). Still others have claimed that MBA graduates with more work experience reap fewer benefits (Richards-Wilson & Galloway, 2006). The research findings on age and experience are, at best, inconclusive. Previous research on career implications of the MBA has focused on career anchors of executive MBA students (Chang, Hwang, Liu, & Siang, 2007), career expectations (Simmering & Wilcox, 1995), expectations of MBA quality (Rapert, Smith, Velliquette & Garretson, 2004) and student motivations (Thompson & Gui, 2000). The MBA degree is perceived to have a positive impact on employment, annual income and both short and long-term job promotion prospects (Zhao et al., 2000). It seems the most frequent reasons given for MBA studies were career progression and improved management performance (Lewis, 1992; Mihail & Elefterie, 2006).

In the research of 'MBA Effectiveness in non-OECD Countries: Perception of Leadership and Managerial Skills' held by Douglas J. Gilbert in his DBA at University of Phoenix (Gilbert, 2009); 12 skill sets were used as variables to measure the MBA's effectiveness in non-OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries.

In the article of 'Improving MBA Effectiveness: The Case for Embedding Personal Competences in the MBA curriculum' written by Paul H. Dainty of Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne (Dainty, 2008) specifies 10 factors to measure MBA's effectiveness which includes competency in the area of leadership, interpersonal, personal management, problem solving etc.

CHAPTER 4: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

4.1 Methods of Research Used: Our research is a descriptive Research. For the data collections, we have used primary survey research technique and our respondents are the students enrolled for an MBA degree in AIUB. For our background information i.e. literature review, we used the articles as our secondary data sources. 4.2 Respondents and Sampling Procedures: Our study included 50 respondents only and convenience sampling method is used for sample selection. Our study held on primary data sources which and for data collections, survey is conducted and for secondary data collection, websites, research paper or publication is used. 4.3 Research Instruments: For collecting data, close-ended questionnaire will be is used with 12 questions. Five-point Likert scale and nominal scale is used as our measurement scale. 4.4 Pretests To determine the reliability we have calculated the Cronbach Alpha and for our research the alpha value is 0.636, which is above acceptable level. 4.5 Collection of Data: We have collected primary data by surveying the candidates who enrolled in AIUB for an MBA degree. To collect the data we, the group members, have formed separate groups consisting one member in each group and go to the respondents for their responses. All data are collected during the leisure time of the respondents. The geographical place of the respondents the AIUB campus. For sampling, non-probability sampling method has been used where we used convenience sampling technique.

4.6 Statistical Treatment of Data: SPSS v17 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 17) is used for our data analysis. The use of this popular statistical software will surely enhance the acceptance of our research output. For data analysis, we have used Frequency and Percentage, Arithmetic mean and Standard deviation analysis in descriptive analysis in SPSS.

Demograp hic factors:

1)Among 50 respondents, 40 respondents were male and 10 respondents were female. 2)14 of the total respondents are currently employed. 3)Among the respondents, 19 respondents completed BBA, 15 respondents are Masters degree holder, 12 respondents completed 4-years integrated Honors degree, 2 respondents are from EEE and 1 respondent from each CSE and 3years Bachelor degree. 4)27 of the respondents completed 24 credits to 45 credits, 15 of the total respondent completed more than 45 credits and rest 8 candidates completed less than 24 credits.
Independent factors:

1)Among 50 respondents 34 respondents gave us positive respondents gave us the negative responses and 10 respondents answers about their learning something new in MBA. 2)Among 50 respondents 21 respondents gave us positive respondents gave us the negative responses and 20 respondents answers about the library facilities provided by AIUB. 3)Among 50 respondents 29 respondents gave respondents gave us the negative responses and 16 answers about the course curriculum of MBA. 4)Among 50 respondents 27 respondents gave respondents gave us the negative responses and 19 answers about the performance of the MBA faculty. 5)Among 50 respondents 20 respondents gave respondents gave us the negative responses and 22 answers about the merit evaluation process of MBA. 6)Among 50 respondents 33 respondents gave us positive respondent gave us the negative responses and 16 respondents answers about the admission process and students enrolled in MB 7)Among 50 respondents 29 respondents gave us positive respondents gave us the negative responses and 15 respondents answers about MBAs acceptance in job markets.

(8) Among 50 respondents 26 respondents gave us positive responses, 8 respondents gave us the negative responses and 16 respondents gave average answers about the applicability of MBA education in job sectors. 6.2 Conclusion: From the research findings we have learnt that though most of the respondents gave a positive answer in most of the factors like knowledge expansion, admission process and average students merits, performance of the faculty etc. it is not sufficient enough to compete todays competitive environment. There are also significant portions of respondents give average or indifferent answer. 6.3 Recommendations: Based on our findings of our study we can recommend the followings: 60 percent of the respondents either neutral or suspicious about the evaluation process of the students in AIUB. Grading system of the AIUB should be moderated. Question pattern of AIUB can be benchmarked with other reputed universities.

58 percent of the respondents conclude library facilities either non-satisfactory or average. The course curriculum can be designed such a way that encourage students to use the library and then re-evaluate the library facilities.

48 percent of the respondents think MBA curriculum should revised to implant more practical exposure. The authority should consider the practical aspects of MBA program. Factory visit or office visit can be arranged during semester and ask students to write report on it so that students can have idea about the job environment and practices and relate their theories with the practices.

6.4 Further Study: This research has held on 3 variables only and the sample size we have used only 50 respondents of AIUB. So, our research has held on a very limited scope but it has opened to do new research in this field. Further research can be possible using new sets of variables, sample size or using new statistical tools or even modifying the conceptual frame-work.
