EDITORS MESSAGE
Strength does not come from winning but when you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is real strength. We don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. Our perspective is that true success is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful because obstacles are those fearsome things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. One cannot change the direction of the wind, but can adjust his sails to always reach his destination. Life's troubles would never be called "hurdles" if there was not a way to get beyond them. We have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, and Albert Einstein. So never think that you are given less time to achieve your goals because the world is moving so fast that the man who says it can't be done is generally interrupted by someone doing it. The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give. So keep full faith in your abilities and do whatever is possible to put your ideas into practice.

UVA light rather than UVB light, which is more dangerous. The matter sparkling under a black light, whether on a fluorescent poster or new white T-shirt, is phosphor. A phosphor converts the UV radiation energy from black light to visible light.

How Black Light Works

You might have seen black lights at amusement parks and science museums. Black lights may appear normal fluorescent lamps or incandescent light bulbs, but their function is completely different. Turn black light on, and white clothes, teeth and many other things shine in the dark. There are some pieces of paper that appear blank in normal light but spell out a gleaming message under black light. The question is why black lights make some items glow but not others? When you switch on a black light bulb in a dark room, you can see a purplish glow from the bulb, but you cannot see the ultraviolet light produced by the bulb. Our eyes can see visible light in a spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet). Above violet is ultraviolet light, which we cannot see. A black light bulb produces

How My Shirt Glows

White clothes usually glow under black light for the reason that modern detergents have phosphors which convert UV light into white light. That is why whites look "whiter than white" in normal sunlight. What you see in sunlight is the usual reflection of visible white light from the cloth, in addition to the emission of white light that phosphors create from UV light. The clothes are really whiter than white!

They have the data of many sights so we can visit many countries just sitting in a room but see its just augmented tour. A more common example is that we can learn driving a car or motor bike with the help of the devices using VR technology. Like a complete front side body structure of a car is made with all the parts used in driving. The person put the glasses on and sits over the structure. Program starts running and we can start it normally with the key provided. Then all the parts work and we can see a virtual road and virtual traffic. So a good driver can be created without damaging a car or putting your life in danger. American commandos are using this technology to learn hang gliding which is normally a difficult and dangerous task but this technology has made it very easy for them. To be more close to you I will suggest you to use it for your presentation preparations as many of the students hesi-

What is Our REALITY about Virtual Reality

There are more then 60,000 industries in the world producing the devices using this technology and all the advanced countries are using this for different purposes. Many educational institutes all over the world are using this technology to make there study lectures more practical and make the students understand things more properly and then produce better results. concepts. If we use this technology we can see things just sitting in our class and it makes things more practical then a normal video. It will be expensive to introduce it first but then it will be beneficial for years to come. This technology in short is going to be very common in future all the video games are going to be more exciting with VR. Each and every educational institutes and research laboratories will be using this technology like computer and internet are used now days. A fair use of this technology may bring a revolutionary change in our country because we have got talent and all we need is to make the students see reality and study in a practical environment, VR is the most appropriate technology to be adopted for this purpose.

named virtual reality (VR). It is a term that applies to computer simulated environment that can simulate places in real world, as well as in imaginary world. In general words its augmented reality. You can see things and learn things with help of this. It is computer generated multi sensory program that tracks the user in real time. We implement this technology with the help of a device and devices using virtual reality have a wide range. A common example is that there are cinemas in European countries where people put glasses on and a situation

NICO Robot
Nico robot is called a humanoid robot because it has appear ance and a few facial features of human. Nico has newly turned out to be the first robot that can identify itself in the mirror. Just a few other animals (e.g. Dolphins, chimps, and elephants) in addition to humans have the capability to recognize themselves in mirror. The selected few animals that identify themselves in mirror also utilize the mirror for inspecting their teeth and other body parts. Though Nico is not at that level so far Design: When Nico raises his arm while looking in a mirror, his software system is able to recognize himself as "self." The scientists have programmed him to categorize things as self, other, or neither based on the information acquired from a camera behind one of his eyes. Motion sensors in Nico's arms convey information when his arm is moving towards his software system. The software then compares the images received by camera eye with the arm movement, and when they are aligned then there is a high possibility of the image being Nico haimself. If not, the software concludes that there is more probability that the image is something else. One possible application is that the capability to identify their own limbs would be useful for robots to adapt their gait to a varying environment while walking plus in handling objects. displaying up to 65k colors at a resolution of 12801024 pixels.

Gaming is one of the most exciting pass times; once you start playing a game you become addicted to it. This craze and indulgence of youth in gaming has prompted the companies to bring new technological innovations that will revolutionize the entire gaming structure. The new groundbreaking innovations in gaming include; PC and consoles are bringing increasingly sophisticated audio and visuals to everincreasingly sophisticated games. These games help people in playing together as a team, overcoming extremely complex challenges in supremely complex environments. Mobile gaming is another huge growth area that is driving some serious innovation in a way that we play and consume games.

Smart phones such as Androids and iphones of this world, and emerging ipadstyle tablets, are the real mobile gaming platforms of the future. Another area where we see improvements and innovations is the 3D gaming. Nintendos 3Ds show us that 3D can work without special glasses. PC tech is showing us how it works with them. We saw in the movie Avatar the semi-transparent tablets which were used by military as personal computers which, very soon, will not be a fantasy anymore thanks to the cloud technology. This technology removes the need of processors in your computer. All you need is a high-speed Wi-Fi connection

and display technology and you can connect to a remote system that does the entire number-crunching/ file saving for you. This technology is going to revolutionize gaming. Besides all these couchbased gaming, a new technology in gaming has been introduced called kinect, which is giving a new dimension to the gaming technology. Kinect are the activity games which combine gaming with motions such as faux-sports, dancing and fitness. We are in the midst of a hugely important time for gaming industry, one that will soon be of major historical significance. Heres to a bright gaming futute!

How and why you choose this project? Well it's kind of a long-funny story, but in short my friend Hassan Mahmood suggested that we can use the idea of tracking and develop such a system so that the user can access it's features directly, without the help of company providing such systems. We just wanted car tracker to be user friendly and introduced security features in it. What were the difficulties you people faced during the project? We faced alot of difficulties during the project, especially when we were trying to interface the hardware with the computer. As uc8051 has just a single serial line, but we needed two. One for taking coordinates from GPS module the other one to send coordinates through GSM module. So we had to mux it, but

The Best Engineers In The World

English for specialist engineering Americans for software engineering Swiss for precision manufacturing French and Japanese for consumer engineering But overall the best engineers are Germans. Previously the British led the charge, but in the 20th Century the Germans established their dominance. They are now the world's top export nation due to their engineering skills and no other nation can compete with their depth of engineering knowledge and practice. Siemens, BMW and Mercedes are just the name of three popular brands of quality engineering products under Germans. Energy Crisis in Pakistan

Pakistan is facing serious energy crisis that is affecting all sectors of the economy and the various segments of the society. Presently, the demand-supply gap in the energy sector has reached one of its highest peaks in the country. This gap has subsequently produced huge shortage of power that has adversely affected the economy. Consequently, this ongoing chain of energy crises is accelerating inflation. The government has intended to counter it with Rental Power Plants (RPPs). However, the constant trust shortfall on the part of loads is not only due to the transparency issue of RPPs, it is majorly due to a constant increase in power failures and shortage, revealing an increase in the crisis instead of signs of recovery. ELECTRICITY PAKISTAN SECTOR IN Thermal power plants contributes up to two third of the total power. Main thermal power plants are KAPCO, jamshoro, Gaduu, and bin Qasim. Nuclear power plants generates up to 500MW of the total required power. Chashma Nuclear Power Complex 1 is in working condition and generates up to 300 MW. New projects of the nuclear power are under development. Projects have been approved on wind and solar power plants. Jhimpir Wind Power Plant is the Pakistan first wind power plant and is generating up to 6MW.

SOLUTION TO OVERCOME ENERGY CRISES At present, thermal plants are averaging about 50 percent plant factor, which means that they are not being used to their potential level, 70 to 80 percent plant factor is quite feasible; this would require better maintenance of such plants. A higher plant factor on these power stations can provide 20 to 30 percent more energy, which will avoid the present shortages to a certain extent. Improving the plant factor of the existing plants is far more economical then setting up new plants, although new plants will still be needed. One of the reasons for low plant factor is that the funds are not made available for the purchase of oil; solution for this factor will help in short term increase in energy production. The government has announced that immediately 1200 MW of additional plants will be

set-up. At present the country has about 28 Trillion cft of recoverable gas available, the yearly consumption is about 1.2 Trillion cft, which means that even if gas consumption is increased, the existing recoverable gas will be sufficient for the next 15 years. Therefore the additional thermal generation should be based on gas, but in order to make additional gas available, the gas pressure and its transmission system will have to be enhanced. The key points which might be helpful in avoiding energy crises in Pakistan are thus Rental power plants Stabilizing industrial sector Limiting commercial supp l y h o u r s Sh o rt t e rm go a l s Refreshing non functional p o w e r p l a n t s Revamping transmission s y s t e m Thar coal project Alternate/renewable ene r g y s o u r c e s Long term goals Conforming foreign policy and ener gy needs N ew da m s Transparency Efficient techniques and u s a g e Measures against power theft.

At present total power production capacity in the country is about 19,500 W. The different way for the production of power used in Pakistan is hydro, thermal, Nuclear and renewable. Of all, hydroelectric comprises major part of the production. Ghazi barotha, mangla, warsak dams are generating up to 6500 MW of the total power.
