Course objectives Students in the module Strategic Management will learn the approaches that are needed to develop a sustainable competitive advantage. Case:

The basic text book for the course is Exploring Corporate Strategy with Companion Website Student Access Card (8th Edition) (Paperback), by Gerry Johnson (Author), Kevan Scholes (Author), Richard Whittington (Author), Copies of the charts used by the lecturer are part of students course material. Cases will be provided and are a basis for class discussion and group work. Please read the cases before class and prepare to discuss them.

Course assessment and grading The grading of this course (evaluation of participants) will be based on two case study assignments (Samsung 50%, Philips/Matsushita 50%). Each participant will work in a team and conduct an analysis on the provided cases and assess a number of questions. Grading will be based on: depth and breadth of analyses, validity of answers and recommendations, meeting formal requirements (# of slides etc.).
