SUCCESS STORY - Notts Sport

Notts Sport has been distributing its childrens play range in France through a Paris-based distributor for the last five years. But its existing distributor was unable to provide effective additional distribution outside the Ile de France region.

Whenweinviteddistributors totheEmbassy,theywere incrediblyimpressed

RichardTigwell,MarketingDirector,NottsSport

Our first step was to carry out basic research via UKTI to understand the potential market for our product across France, find out who were our competitors and compile a list of potential distributors, says Richard Tigwell, Marketing Director at Notts Sport. UKTI was on hand to promote the company so that it would attract interest from the right type of distributor. To add a touch of class, the first round of interviews was held at the British Embassy in Paris. When we invited distributors to interview at the Embassy, they were incredibly impressed, says Richard Tigwell. The respect they had for us went up several notches, as they began to see us as substantial players with government backing. Some even went as far as to admit that they may not have come to meet us if it was just in a hotel. This level of support isnt something companies would think is available, but its an invaluable way to attract attention and win credibility.
