A SCOR Education Plan for Supply Chain Excellence

Supply Chain Excellence Better Business Performance The Supply Chain Council has over 700 members worldwide, 70 of which are represented in the Fortune 1000. While small in number, they account for 35% of the profit and 17% of net revenue.1 Other benchmark data shows that superior performers in supply chain management spend half as much on supply chain cost, deliver 30% more reliably to their customers, and tie up less than half the cash in working capital compared to average performers.2 The SCOR Model has established itself as the cross-industry standard to define and improve supply chain performance. The question is no longer Does SCOR work? but How can SCOR work for my company? SCOR Learning Stages Since 1996, SCE have participated in the SCOR learning process with over 200 companies in pursuit of improving performance. Through that experience we have identified four general stages of the learning process, each with different motives and objectives. These stages and objectives are shown in the table below. The third column reflects what education opportunities are now publicly available. Items in bold are being offered by SCE and are explained in greater detail below.

SCOR Webinars
This 60 to 90 minute, interactive webinar addresses two information needs. Part one provides a brief overview of the Supply Chain Council, the SCOR Framework, a SCOR Project, and a SCOR Benefit Summary. Part two discusses next steps your team can take in the context of your current supply chain improvement plans.

SCOR Executive Briefings

Using the Alpha Company Case Study, this 1 day course provides an executive level overview of the key elements of the SCOR process framework and hands-on exercises for each phase of the SCOR Project Roadmap including supply chain definition, metrics, material flow, and business process blueprints. This is equivalent to SCU 101 described in Supply Chain University April 2001, SCTN. Go to link http://www.totalsupplychain.com/Channels/SCM/SCMHOME.asp, click SCOR Reports then click to article 11.

SCOR Boot Camps

Using a real supply chain scenario in each attendees company, this course provides an intensive, simulated trip through a seventeen week SCOR project producing key deliverables using real data where possible. This multiple day course uses the book, Supply Chain Excellence: A Handbook to Dramatic Improvement Using the SCOR Model AMACOM Publishing 2003, as guide to activities, tools, lessons learned, techniques, and templates covering 34 design sessions and 8 steering team reviews. To get the most out of this course, the participant should have attended a SCOR introductory workshop. This is equivalent to SCU 201 described in Supply Chain University. Boot Camps are delivered on two schedules to match the clients desired project and adoption timeline: 4 consecutive days, or 6 days spread over 3 months. The intent of the staggered schedule is to allow attendees to work on real deliverables between sessions.

SCOR Coach/Supply Chain Workout Sessions

Similar in concept to the Six Sigma Master Black Belt, this very flexible role helps both the new project manager and team through the first trip down the SCOR Project Roadmap providing facilitation, tips and techniques, supply chain process subject matter expertise, change management discipline, etc. The Supply Chain process workout sessions focus accelerated problem solving techniques and solution development at your toughest issues. This is equivalent to SCU 301 and 401 described in Supply Chain University.
