Thompson English 9 30 May 2011 Stem Cell Research Many people wonder all the time why must stem cell research be funded? It is important to the health of American citizens that stem cell research is properly funded. It is important that scientists research stem cells because in the near future because the fixed stem cells could lead to the cure of the diseases such as: Diabetes, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons. Stem cells also may be able to mimic human muscle tissue and maybe even vital organs one day. Stem cell research must be funded by the government and citizens properly. It is important to people in the future that this type of research is funded now properly. Right now stem cell research does not have the correct funding that is needed in order to advance further studies of diseases and other health issues. Stem cell research offers the potential of ending suffering, treatment for diseases, and may also help injuries and stop premature death (Stem Cell Research In New York State: A Snap Shot). If stem cell research had the correct funding for research then these advances could have been made a long time ago. Stem cell research needs to receive better funding than it has received in the past. Stem cell research may also help serious injuries heal much faster. If a treated stem cell is delivered to cardiac muscles after a heart attack the persons heart may heal faster and repair (Biological Sutures: cell-seeded fibers might help heal the heart). If stem cells can already help heal the heart imagine

Murphy what it will be able to heal or cure in the next couple of years. Stem cell research can help heal the heart with horrible funding. Stem cell research can also help fix muscles and repair organs. Scientists claim, one day the stem cell will be able to act like a human muscle, tissue, or even a vital organ (Sense on the Stem Cell Front: a federal appeals to court grants a reprieve to important research). One day when someone needs an organ transplant they wont have to wait on a list for someone to die in order to get the transplant, they will be able to under go stem cell surgery. The funding for stem cell research is very small. The government and citizens should have more funding for stem cell research. Many people, especially bishops from the Catholic Church and social conservatives, believe that stem cell research is a bad thing. Most of these religious figures and conservatives argue that tampering with a human embryo murders that person. Nancy Frazier OBrien reported that stem cell research undermines the respect for human life and is gravely immoral and unnecessary (The Catholic Church Must Oppose Embryonic Stem Cell Research). If stem cell research could obtain the correct knowledge then it wouldnt harm the living person in the embryo. Stem cell research needs the correct funding by the government and citizens. A stem cell is able to act like human cells, tissues, muscles, and even organs. Embryonic stem cells have the most potential to become any of the 220 cells in the human body (Stem Cell Research: All Viewpoints). Stem cell research is important to help curing diseases and serious injuries. Stem cell research must be funded. Stem cell research has very low funding for something that can help the health of citizens. When government funding was halted it was funded privately (Court OKs federal stem cell funding). If stem cell research had

Murphy the correct funding then more diseases could have a potential cure to them. Funding for stem cell research is important to the health of citizens. If funding for stem cell research was better then not only would people die in embryos, but it could also help cure more diseases and help treat injuries. It is important that stem cell research is funded properly. If stem cell research had the correct funding it could have more cures for more than just a couple diseases by now. It would also help improve health care for many citizens who have parents with Alzheimers or children with Diabetes. Diseases such as: Diabetes, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons would no longer be a problem for families. That is why it is important for stem cell research to get the correct funding so that they can make larger advancements in health care.
