Lampert 3800 Parliament Drive Alexandria, LA 71303 Dear Mr. Lampert: Thank you for agreeing to accept a commission as Interim Commissioner of Public Safety for the City of Alexandria for a period of ninety (90) days, effective, noon, Monday, June 13, 2011. As Interim Commissioner, you will have overall responsibility to conduct performance audits, and implement/supervise identified plans and executive orders in the Alexandria Fire Department and the Alexandria Police Department. I have informed Fire Department, Chief, Bernard Wesley, of this commission and he assures me you will have his full cooperation in the fulfillment of your duties. As a result of the resignation of Alexandria Police Department Chief, Roger Tully, Assistant Chief, James Hay, has assumed the duties of Chief of Police, pending the appointment of a successor to Mr. Tully. I have also informed him of this commission and he, likewise, assures me you will have his full cooperation in the fulfillment of your duties. Please know that the citizens are fortunate to have dedicated public servants such as you, who are willing to step forward when called upon for public service and their safety. who being personally known to me and after being duly sworn, did depose and state that: He has been appointed Commissioner by the Mayor of the city of Alexandria, Louisiana, to serve as the Public Safety of the Alexandria Fire and Police Departments, in an interim capacity; he further
attests that he is mentally and physically fit, competent and able, to perform the duties of the position as prescribed by the Alexandria City Charter and State Law; and he furthermore administered and duly taken the following oath of office: I, Loren M. Lampert, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and the laws thereunder; the Constitution of the State of Louisiana, and the laws thereunder, and the Alexandria Home Rule Charter and the ordinances thereunder, against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will lead the Public Safety division of the City, composed in part of the Alexandria Police Department, with integrity and clear vision, as Public Safety Commissioner; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the principles herein; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; that I will follow and cause to be followed the departmental policies and regulations as may from time to time exist or be modified; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter e God.
