Interpretation of concepts Make sure that you know the meaning of the following terms: Describe: Only describe

e a reality. There is no need for personal comment or

discussion. The learner must describe a phenomenon or a process as it happened. Discuss: A discussion needs an argumentation of a phenomenon, a case, an event or a process. The lecturer can expect from the learner: an own interpretation to see whether the learner has insight; to point out certain distinguishing elements, causes, effects and mutual relationships (analysis); to make his/her own synthesis in order to see the work as a whole; an evaluation to see whether the learner can judge a case with reference to certain criteria. The learner must express a value judgement and motivate with reference to certain criteria; Explain: The learner must understand how things are put together, why only in that way and why there is a definite result; Motivate: An instruction to motivate why a point of view was taken and a decision was made; Define: A reproduction of knowledge is required. Apply: Application refers to the application of acquired knowledge and insight into reallife situations. The way in which the learner applies something will indicate to what extent the learner has acquired certain knowledge and to what extent the contents are understood; Name, list, set and indicate: These terms mostly illustrate memorized knowledge; Analyse: This term applies to certain elements that must be determined, causes and results that must be identified and relationships that must be determined.

Interpretering van konsepte Maak seker dat u weet wat die volgende begrippe beteken: Beskryf: Beskryf slegs n realiteit. Geen eie kommentaar of beredenering is nodig nie. Die leerder moet n verskynsel of n proses beskryf soos wat dit gebeur het. Bespreek: Bespreek vereis n beredenering van n verskynsel, saak, gebeure of

proses. Die dosent kan van die leerder verwag: om n eie interpretasie te verskaf om insig te evalueer; om oorsake, gevolge en verwantskappe aan te toon (analise); om n eie sintese te maak om n nuwe, sinvolle geheel daar te stel; om n evaluering volgens sekere kriteria te maak. Die leerder moet n waardeoordeel uitspreek en sy/haar mening motiveer. Verduidelik: Die leerder moet verstaan hoe dinge in mekaar steek, waarom juis s en waarom daar n bepaalde resultaat is. Motiveer: n Opdrag om te evalueer waarom n standpunt ingeneem is en n besluit geneem is. Definieer: n Blote kennisreproduksie word vereis. Toepas: Toepassing dui op die aanwending van verworwe kennis en begrip in werklike situasies. Die wyse waarop leerders die toepassing maak, sal aandui in watter mate die leerinhoud begryp word. Noem, lys, stel en toon aan: Hierdie terme illustreer meestal gememoriseerde kennis. Analiseer: Hierdie opdrag dui op onderskeidende elemente wat bepaal moet word, oorsake en gevolge wat gedentifiseer moet word en verwantskappe wat bepaal moet word.
