Installation
This section contains information about installing, uninstalling, and upgrading the SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 system. A complete list of system requirements and supported platforms can be found at the following site: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-articles For complete installation instructions, see the installation guides included in the docs directory of your product distribution. The Client Tools installer and Add-ons are not part of Linux DVD. Customers must use Windows DVD to install Windows components. Disable all antivirus software before installing SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 components. Enable your antivirus software after the installation.
Installation scenarios
You can install SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 in one of the following ways: Clean Installation Install the software on one of the supported operating systems with no other instance of BusinessObjects Edge Series software installed. Side-by-Side Installation Install the software on the same machine where a Business Objects Crystal Decisions product is installed. For more information, refer to the installation guide. When you perform a side by side installation, use port numbers that are not used by any other software on the machine. If you are installing one or more SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 products on the same Windows machine, ensure that you install SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 before you install subsequent products. SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 cannot be installed on the same machine as BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.0.
Side-by-side installations
When running both Business Objects Crystal Decisions and SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 on the same machine and using Central Configuration Manager (CCM), to avoid accidentally connecting to the wrong deployment we recommend the following best practices: Always specify a port number after the Central Management Server (CMS) when connecting to a deployment. For example, mymachine:6400 or mymachine:6403. To administer SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1, use the CCM from the local machine. To administer Business Objects Crystal Decisions, use the CCM from a remote machine and administer the servers remotely. Keep different passwords for the Administrator accounts of the two systems.
Certain files are not removed during uninstall of SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1
When you uninstall the SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 software, the WAR files are not removed by default. The majority of these files are related to the MySQL database server, the Tomcat server, and the BusinessObjects web applications. These files are retained so that the older data can be made
available for later use. However, you can delete these files manually if you do not need this data.

Issue: Installing SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 on the machine which already have BusinessObjects Enterprise installed
When Business Objects Edge Series 3.1 installer is launched on a machine which already has BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 1 or BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 or BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0, the installer will prompt for an upgrade option. This scenario is not supported. Nothing prevents the user from proceeding with the installation, but this will result in an unusable system. Workaround: Install SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 on a machine where BusinessObjects Enterprise is not installed and proceed with the installation.
Issue: Fatal error in case of uninstallation of SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1
When SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 is installed side by side with BusinessObjects Edge Series XI Release 2 (previously known as Business Objects Crystal Decisions) or Crystal Reports Server XI Release 2, uninstallation of the SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 might abort with a fatal error. Workaround: Currently, no solution is available. It is recommended that the user takes backup of all data before proceeding with the uninstallation of the SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1.
Issue: Uninstallation of SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 removes MySQL causing problems to Data Services operations
If you install Data Services XI 3.0, 3.1, or 3.1 SP1, share the BusinessObjects Edge Series-installed version of MySQL, and uninstall BusinessObjects Edge Series, then MySQL is removed and the Data Services operations related to the MySQL repository fails to work. Data Services operations that do not work include those associated with the Data Services Designer and Data Services Management Console. Workaround: You must back up the Data Services configuration files and the MySQL repository, and then restore Data Services. For the latest update on backup and restore procedures, refer to SAP note 1274989 in the SAP Service Marketplace. The note can be accessed at https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1274989.

Federation and Replication links are visible in CMC for SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1. Workaround: Federation and Replication are not supported for SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 License. Nothing prevents the user from proceeding with this configuration, but this feature will not be supported for SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 Customers.
Issue: SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 keycode does not support SAP Integration Solutions
SAP Integration Solutions for SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 installer does not proceed with SAP BusinessObjects Edge Series 3.1 Keycode. Workaround: This package requires an additional Add-on keycode. Please contact your account manager, customer support for further information. See the BusinessObjects Edge Series Integration for SAP Solutions Release Notes, and the BusinessObjects XI 3.1 Release Notes available at the support site at the link: http://help.sap.com/
