Dearly Beloved, You are welcome to this special and solemn moment in the history of my family to share, rejoice and celebrate with us of the wonderful gift the LORD GOD has given to us (the baby girl). We are here together for the DEDICATION AND NAMING ceremony of our new born baby. This practice is biblical and God honoured. Child dedication is a symbolic ceremony undertaken by Christian parents soon after the birth of a child. The rite/ceremony is a public declaration by us, the parents that we will train this child in the Christian faith and seek to instill that faith in her. The idea of dedicating a child to the Lord can certainly be found in the Bible. Hannah was a barren wife who promised to dedicate her child to God if He would give her a son (1 Samuel 1:11). Luke 2:21 begins the account of Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the temple after eight days in order to dedicate Him to the Lord. Since Dedication is the act of consecrating an altar or temple to a divine being or to a sacred use and the scripture declares that our body is the spiritual temple where GOD dwells.
