IDENTIFYINGEXTERNALCOMPONENTS LED
LEDStatus SlowBlink(1blink/second) Description When the LED is blinking, the WLAN Adapter is transmitting or receiving data ontheWirelessEthernetnetwork.

After pressing the WPS button, the LED will flash 3 blinks/second. Once the connectionissuccessfullyestablishedbetweentheAPandtheadapter,theLED FastBlink(3blinks/second) will remain solid for 5 seconds to tell the users that the connection has been established. After 5 seconds , the LED will turn off to indicate that the AP is readyforanewWPSconnectionandtheadapterisassociatedwiththeAP. User inserts the card into the NB without driver installed, and without connection.

WIRELESSPERFORMANCECONSIDERATIONS
Thereareanumberoffactorsthatcanimpacttherangeofwirelessdevices. 1. Adjust your wireless devices so that the signal is traveling in a straight path, ratherthanatanangle.Themorematerialthesignalhastopassthroughthe moresignalyouwilllose. 2. Keep the number of obstructions to a minimum. Each obstruction can reduce therangeofawirelessdevice.Positionthewirelessdevicesinamannerthat willminimizetheamountofobstructionsbetweenthem. 3. Buildingmaterialscanhavealargeimpactonyourwirelesssignal.Inanindoor environment, try to position the wireless devices so that the signal passes throughlessdensematerialsuchasdrywall.Densematerialslikemetal,solid wood,glassorevenfurnituremayblockordegradethesignal. 4. Antennaorientationcan also have a largeimpact onyour wireless signal. Use the wireless adapters site survey tool to determine the best antenna orientationforyourwirelessdevices. 5. Interference from devices that produce RF (radio frequency) noise can also impact your signal. Position your wireless devices away from anything that generatesRFnoise,suchasmicrowaves,radiosandbabymonitors. 6. Anydeviceoperatingonthe2.4GHzfrequencywillcauseinterference.Devices such as 2.4GHz cordless phones or other wireless remotes operating on the 2.4GHzfrequencycanpotentiallydropthewirelesssignal.Althoughthephone maynotbeinuse,thebasecanstilltransmitwirelesssignal.Movethephones basestationasfarawayaspossiblefromyourwirelessdevices. If you are still experiencing low or no signal consider repositioning the wireless devicesorinstallingadditionalaccesspoints.Theuseofhighergainantennasmay alsoprovidethenecessarycoveragedependingontheenvironment.

ThisisthedefaultscreenafterlaunchingtheUtilityprogram.

Status:ShowstheassociatedBSSID(MACaddress),whichcanbeusedtoidentify thewirelessaccesspointorrouterthatyouareconnectingto. SSID: Shows the current SSID, which must be the same as your wireless access pointorrouterinordertoestablishtheconnectioncorrectly. Frequency:Showsthecurrentfrequencyusedforyourwirelessnetwork. WirelessMode:Showsthecurrentwirelessmodeused. Encryption:Showsthecurrentencryptionmodeused. TxRate:Showsthecurrentdatarateusedfortransmitting.

ProfileTheusercancreateandmanagethecreatedprofilesforhome,workor publicareas.Bydoubleclickingononeofthecreatedprofile,thesettingwill adjusttothespecificsettingsuchasSSID,channel,andencryptionassavedby thatparticularprofile. Add:Addsaprofile.Thefollowingscreenwillappear.Theusercanenterthe necessaryinformationrequiredforaccessingtheparticularAccessPointor WirelessRouter.

Remove:Deletestheselectedprofile Edit:Editanexistprofile.Thescreenwillbacktoprofile.EdittheSSIDandselect the Wireless Mode, Authentication and Encryption then click Apply to save the profile.WhentheProfilenamewaschanged,anewprofilewillbeaddedinthelist.
