Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy

International Scientific Thematic Network for Environmental Technologies

Organizations profile
The history of the Stanislaw Staszic Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy (IMZ) goes back to the year 1945 when the Staszic Scientific and Research Institute was established. Based on its facilities, the current IMZ was founded. The scientific and research activities of IMZ include mainly applied research dedicated to the needs of industry. Basic research is carried out mostly prior to the intended utilitarian works and enables obtaining initial understanding of the purposefulness of the solution to the problem it should address. It also contributes to scientific development of the Institute's staff, as well as development of the research PVA VSG100S Metallurgical kiln methodologies applied in the Institute. selection of equipment and units for steel manufacturing and steel processing ! selection of steel (and to some extent other materials) for different practical applications ! macroeconomic analyses, marketing studies, financial analyses, strategic analyses, planning and assessment of the efficiency of business undertakings, monitoring and analyses of implementation of restructuring programmes. In 2004 the following IMZs research units implemented the Quality Management System compliant with PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard: ! Chemical Analyses Laboratory ! Materials Properties and Structure Testing Laboratory ! Power Engineering Equipment Materials Testing Group. The Chemical Analyses Laboratory was also granted the first- and second-grade General Electric Aircraft Engines certificate (No. T3895) of August 11, 2004, updated on January 12, 2009.
