Managing transformation and evolution in systems, processes and culture
An effective information governance strategy includes a clearly defined information management process, an established information management system and the support of the appropriate personnel within the organisation. However, many organisations have a lack of understanding into the complex world of information governance and therefore risk loss of data, information misuse, leakage and legal discovery. This one-day forum will confront these issues and give attendees the opportunity to hear about: Developing an information governance framework, processes and policies Promoting behavioural changes in attitudes towards information management Assigning roles, responsibilities and accountabilities to key data stakeholders Creating standardised taxonomy and implementing an integrated information management strategy

Using information governance to create a more adaptable organisation There are two things we can learn from the past twenty years. The first is that new and truly disruptive businesses almost always use information in a new way (examples include the way new credit card issuers use loyalty schemes and Amazons ability to recommend purchases). The second is that the information associated with truly disruptive businesses is more integrated in a measurable way. The small worlds measure of information connectivity is a technique which can be applied through information governance to test new business models and challenge whether they are just more efficient ways of doing the same thing or whether they are changing the game.

Breakthroughs in proving intangible value of information governance to senior executives

Registration: 9.00 am Workshop time: 9.30 am - 12:30pm Facilitated by: Ken Standfield, Chairman, International Intangible Management Standards Institute

About the workshop:

In October 2008, the Economist Intelligence Unit published the results of an international survey of 192 senior executives on the benefits, challenges and risks associated with developing an enterprise-wide information governance strategy. The report stated that the biggest global challenge is identifying the cost/risk/return tradeoffs of managing information company-wide to gain support from department heads and line-of business managers. This global challenge is because information governance (IG) creates intangible benefits. These intangible benefits (enhanced information management, increased security, decreased risk, easier access to timely information, reduced rework and errors) typically escape identification by conventional accounting and finance methods and therefore executive typically ignore, misunderstand or do not adequately financial IG initiatives. In this workshop you will explore breakthrough new ways to: Prove the value of information governance initiatives to get CFO and CEO attention and interest Elevate your pitch of the benefits of your IG initiatives to increase support and funding for your initiatives Change the perceptions of those around you regarding the importance of information governance Explore new ways to leverage IG initiatives to accomplish organisational goals (such as cost containment and productivity improvement) Better understand how to identify and measure intangible benefits

About the workshop leader:

Ken Standfield is an author, international keynote speaker, consultant and acknowledged international thought-leader who develops interactive web-based models that financially value the strategic impacts of information, knowledge, collaboration, culture, engagement and processes on costs, revenue, retention and productivity. His models are used to prove the value of projects that enhance productivity, effectiveness and efficiency within organisations.
