The reported and unreported cases in Indian continent comprise most of the cases committed in the south Asia.

The Indian conditions provide a favorable climate for this crime against women. If we look closely to the causes of this wide spread evil we may easily pin poin t many a reasons for the commission of this ignoble act. 1. The Bollywood industry plays a vital role in accelerating the se xual crimes by showing sexy (nude, semi-nude actors) on the screen which provide s a feast to the young eyes and arise their sexual instincts tremendously. 2. Even the modeling girls and ads for selling of various products have sufficient sex stuff to encourage sexual behavior of youngsters who fall ea sy prey to it. 3. Even the printed material magazines, news papers etc provide amp le sex masala for their readers. 4. The weak law and its delayed implementation and punishment are a n encouragement to the offender who finds a way out to escape punishment somehow . The law of evidence is to be amended to catch the culprit easily. 5. The police officers do not take it seriously and hardly register a case on factual basis; they avoid filing a FIR with a fear of increase in the crime graph of particular Thana/region. 6. The dresses of girls even in villages are guided by fashion indu stry and tight shirts/blouse; trousers are an attraction for youths who do not f ind a way to satisfy their sex. 7. Seclusion of men and women in trains, buses, schools, colleges a nd other public places is considered a denial of equal rights and opportunity to the women and situation is exploited by sexually charged youths. 8. Going for answering a natural call in the field, so common in th e villages affords an opportunity to the village young folks to do the heinous a ct. 9. No moral/religious education is a part of school curriculum and there is no fear of God at all in the mind of youngsters. 10. The political parties take the issue against the present government and do not look beyond defaming the government concerned. They never make/suggest an d serious effort to curb the menace. 11. We feel proud in westernizing ourselves in the matters of culture in spi te of knowing that many foreign girls were raped in India due to one reason or t he other as they travel alone and mixed up easily sometimes to the Indian People . 12. The girls are also left unprotected by their guardian/parents while goin g out especially when the present scenario is so insecure for them. If we continue to merely read and regret on each reported case everyday nothing will come out unless long lasting, strong and deterrent measures are taken to st op the crime besides providing moral education to change the attitude of young I ndian population towards women.
