Robot Development
The School competition will be open to students from schools island-wide. Participants will design and implement a mobile robot capable of navigating along a play field following lines. In this competition the robot who reaches the end of the line first will be awarded with Gold and the next two robots with Silver and Bronze respectively.

Robot Specifications
The robot must conform to the maximum dimensions of 150mm wide x 210mm long, including all accessories. There is no height restriction. Robot must be self-navigating, without use of a remote control. The robot must be wheeled. The robot must be designed and built by the competitors alone. No off-the-shelf kits are allowed expect the following. o Drive gear (wheels, gear box. motor) o Sensor module (IR, Sonar, etc.) The robot's power supply must be internal (no external power is allowed), and the voltage at any given point of the robot at any time cannot exceed 40V.

The robot must include a start switch that will activate the robot, to be activated at the start of the contest. After the switch is turned on, no human interaction with the robot will be allowed until the end of the round. The robot must be able to detect and follow lines along the ground. The robots may be decorated in any way the team sees fit, as long as the maximum dimensions are not exceeded. The robot should work under any ambient light conditions available in the play field.

Playing Field
The playing field shall measure 6ftx6ft. The robot will have to navigate the field by following a black line, 3cm wide, up to the goal.

Scoring Criteria
Each robot will get 10 minutes to reach the GOAL at the end of the round; the robot will be allocated points in the following manner: 1. 2. 3. 4. Successful navigation : (Line following capabilities) Time taken to move from the starting point to the GOAL Number of restarts (touch penalties) will be given minus points to the total mark. Overall construction: a. Weight b. Shape c. Resource Utilization d. Performance

The award will be handed over according to the marks scored by each team. In the event that at least 3 robots do not reach and stop at the goal, the winners will be judged on points. Finally the Robot should stop at the GOAL. The decision of the judges is final.

Team Organization
This section provides the necessary information for teams who wish to contact the ROBOFEST organizing committee.( how to form a team and get registered for the event.)
