An Inconvenient Lie
I read a Newsweek article a while back written by Editor Robert J. Samuelson, and it occurred to me, why cant the world think clearly? 1. In his article, he stated that the global warming hype is a vast oversimplification of a messy story and that it is fundamentally misleading. If I could present this speech in front of the entire world right now I would do so in a heartbeat. The obviously left-leaning media has over-hyped this natural phenomenon into a global catastrophe- something it clearly is not. CNNs Miles O'Brien also declared on CNN on February 9, 2006 that scientific skeptics of manmade catastrophic global warming "are bought and paid for by the fossil fuel industry, usually." I can assure you that, unfortunately for me, this is incorrect.2 How is it that most of the world believes something that is completely wrong?3

Al Gores documentary An Inconvenient Truth, the cursed 94minute carnival of blasphemy that popularized this gigantic lie, is bursting with lies itself. As many as 35 serious scientific errors or exaggerations, all pointing towards invention of a threat that does not even exist at all, or exaggerations of phenomena that do exist, have

been noted and researched by the SPPI, or Science and Public Policy Institute. The film contained only a few dozen points, most of which will be seen to have been substantially inaccurate. If looked at carefully and researched, one can find information from the IPCC, or the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the group that is mostknown for publishing information supporting global warming hype, that refutes most if not all of the facts used in Vice President Gores movie. Because of the over popularization and mass-blind-belief in this scam, the public now believes that global warming is man-made, and that everyone should do everything they possibly can to stop it. Uh oh.

Lets move on to the real facts of global warming. Global warming is defined by an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect.4 We can disprove that right off the bat. Satellite readings of temperatures in the lower troposphere (an area scientists predict would immediately reflect any global warming) show no warming since readings began 23 years ago.5 These readings are accurate to within 0.01C, and are consistent with data from weather balloons. Only land-based temperature stations show a warming trend, and these stations do not cover the entire globe, are often contaminated by heat generated by nearby urban development,

and are even subject to human error.6 Global warming, should it occur, would even be beneficial to the natural world and to human civilization. Temperatures during the Medieval Warm Period (roughly 800 to 1200 AD), which allowed the Vikings to settle presently inhospitable Greenland, were higher than even the worst-case scenario reported by the IPCC. The period from about 5000-3000 BC, known as the climatic optimum, was even warmer and marked a time when mankind began to build its first civilizations. This was observed by James Plummer and Frances B. Smith in a study for Consumer Alert. There is good reason to believe that a warmer climate would have a similar effect on the health and welfare of our own far more advanced and adaptable civilization today. Okay, so what if you agree with these statistics but think, whats wrong with trying anyway? Ill tell you whats wrong- reducing U.S. carbon dioxide emissions to 7 percent below 1990s levels by the year 2012--the target set by the Kyoto Protocol7--would require higher energy taxes and regulations causing the nation to lose 2.4 million jobs and $300 billion in annual economic output. Average household income nationwide would fall by $2,700, and state tax revenues would decline by $93.1 billion due to less taxable earned income and sales, and lower property values. Full implementation of the Kyoto Protocol by all participating nations would

reduce global temperature in the year 2100 by a mere 0.14 degrees Celsius. Its staggering how unimpressive this is.

One of the points that people supporting global warming use to argue their view is that scientists have proved that global warming is real. Is that so? Well how is it then that, as a U.S. Senate Report states, over 400 prominent scientists disputed man-made global warming claims in 2007?8 Thats right. Over 400 reputable scientists from more than two-dozen countries voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called "consensus" on man-made global warming. The distinguished scientists featured in this new report are experts in diverse fields, including: climatology; geology; biology; glaciology; biogeography; meteorology; oceanography; economics; chemistry; mathematics; environmental sciences; engineering; physics and paleoclimatology. Some of those profiled have won Nobel Prizes for their outstanding contribution to their field of expertise and many shared a portion of the UN IPCC Nobel Peace Prize with Vice President Gore. Additionally, these scientists hail from prestigious institutions worldwide, including, to name only a few, Harvard University, NASA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR); Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the IPCC, U.S. Department of Energy, Princeton University, and even the Environmental Protection Agency. The voices of many of

these hundreds of scientists serve as a direct challenge to the often media-hyped "consensus" that the debate is "settled".

Global warming isnt real. The hype created by mainstream media isnt real. The problem itself isnt real.9 If I make a movie about how people are getting shorter and shorter, and that if we dont, as a planet, put growth pills and chemicals into all food and stop this, everyone will be dead in 100 years, skew some facts to make it look legitimate, get a popular spokesman who is begging for attention, will everyone heed my warnings and accept this as a fact. NO. So lets stop this global warming propaganda from getting blown even more out of proportion10 than it is now.
