No paintings, prints, or drawings of kites will be accepted unless they are on the kite. Limit: Three (3) entries per artist. All work must be original. Please no art kits kites. The College reserves the right to reject any work that is deemed unsuitable for the exhibition or does not adhere to the theme of the show. All reasonable care will be given to artwork while in the custody of GCC. Works are submitted at the artists risk. The following was found printed on a Central Market paper bag and was the inspiration for this exhibition. I am a brown paper bag. More than likely, Ill end up under your kitchen sink with a few of my friends. I might get cut up and wrapped around an old textbook, or just stuck under something messy. It would be nice if someone made me into a kite. Id like to be a kite.
Art Kites is an exhibition featuring original one-of-a-kind kites. The exhibition is open to all artists, kite aficionados, and children of all ages. Kites may be made of any material and do not have to fly, but must have a tail. It can be a kite with one of your paintings or drawings on it; it can be a metal sculpture or assemblage of a kite; you might come up with something that only suggests a kite or is kite-esque. Your kites theme could be a super hero, oriental, western, portraiture, abstract, an appropriation of masterpiece (example: Mona Lisa in the Sky
