WALKING THE SPIRIT PATH for our youth A Native American Presence:

Meet our Native American leadership who share where they came from and where they are today. Where are you on the path as it stretches before you? Will it be straight, narrow or wide? Hear people who have been on the path.

Ray Buckley is the Interim Director of the Center for Native American Spirituality and Christian Study, and he currently serves on the Native American Comprehensive Plan Task Force. He is a wellknown author and has lectured at several universities. One of his books, The GiveAway, was selected to appear on the CBS Christmas Eve special. Rev. Buckley is the recipient of the Amy Crotts Award for Humanitarianism. He is a traditional woodcarver and basketmaker. Anita Phillips is the executive director of Native American Comprehensive Plan. An elder in the Oklahoma Missionary Conference, Anita worked 20 years as a social worker in Native American Communities and tribes. Rev. Phillips says her calling has been to work and be with my people, with native people. Ragghi Rain Calentine is a nationally known story teller and writer. Her heart was born in the mountains. Teaching through stories has been a powerful way for Ragghi to share the coexistence of traditions within families and communities. Production of Little Ragghis Crackers has thrown her into a limelight she never expected. Boe Harris grew up traveling as an army brat and continues to travel extensively. Teaching about American Indian culture is of great importance to her and she dances to honor her father and those having served and are serving in the armed forces. Boe stays very active working with a variety of age groups and communities.

How do traditional values in native culture impact who you are? It is not the events of history or today, but how those events impact who you are spiritually, intellectually, and culturally that dene their importance. Ray Buckley
