WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:
Process Piping Inspection has been tagged as an area in need of improvement for some time now. In the era where oil reserves have been decreasing at a drastic rate, the need for extensive offshore exploration activities was even more pronounced. Companies must have the right protocols in place to ensure efciency, safety, environmental and most importantly cost effectiveness to ensure that oil demand worldwide are fullled yet maximizing the prot for the oil & gas producers. It is imperative that the employees have the latest knowledge and skill sets in their day to day activities. Organizations nd it difcult to actually maximize the production as inspection cost has been hiking not to mention skilled manpower is rare nowadays. Any organization seeks to mitigate this issue and faces both common and unique challenges to secure and sustain this engagement. The need for balance is important when it comes to protability, production cost and safety level. Hence it is important to enhance the knowledge and skills sets that will benet the organization in the long run. Through a combination of presentations and practical exercises, this workshop is designed for engineers involved in process piping inspection and will be in relevance of real issues and challenges faced by organisations in process piping inspection.

ABOUT YOUR COURSE FACILITATOR:

Wilco Kuster is a SKO level III certied inspector with more than 28 years experience. Over the past years, he was frequently involved in the Warenwet Besluit Drukapparatuur and the PED. In 1982 he joined Stork Ketels, where he worked for 14 years as pipe tter, welder, work-preparer and quality inspector. The experiences he gained at Stork, laid the foundation for his present acquirement. During his work in the quality service, various industrial water-tube boilers were manufactured such as for EZH, WKC Eerbeek and Electrabel Eemshaven. After Stork, he joined Apparatenbouw Ootmarsum as Quality Manager in 1996. In this position, he gained a lot of experience in low-temperature materials. The main clients were NAM, Gasunie and Akzo. These companies have their own specications in addition to the required codes and standards, which makes it extra complex. In 1999 he joined the former Stoomwezen BV as an inspector. The inspections for new constructions were mainly based on the rules for equipment under pressure. In addition to inspecting new pressure vessels, he also inspects existing pressure vessels, steam vessels and boilers in use. After the integration of Stoomwezen BV with Lloyds Register his inspection work became more diverse in nature. In addition to pressure equipment he also inspected marine parts based on the rules of Lloyds Register and pressure equipment manufactured according to various codes, such as AD2000, PD5500 and ASME VIII. After 6 years of employment with Lloyds Register Wilco was given the opportunity to work as Area Inspector at the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij. The project involved were the Northern production platforms in the North Sea. After this job he returned to Lloyds Register, where he performed the job of inspector with much passion once again. His work has expanded with collaboration with authorizations for Malaysia (MOM), Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) and as Authorized Inspector for ASME. In addition to performing inspections, he has taught various courses on the Warenwet Besluit Drukapparatuur and the PED. Working experience in Lloyds Register The rst two years only typical Stoomwezen works, after the integration with Lloyds Register in 2001 there has been more involvement in general industries, rotating equipment, lifting equipment and marine environments.
