The new Business School building is a three-storey, environmentally sustainable development which represents a new type of building for the UWA campus. The design reflects the history of the University's architecture in a contemporary and innovative way, whilst embracing the learning environments of the future. The new Business School has been designed to facilitate the best learning outcomes. Five design principles create an optimum learning environment spirit, flexibility, mobility, connectivity and liveability. The spirit of the building is to support free thinking, collaborative learning and creativity with no constraints. The design of the space is flexible and accommodates the different ways that students approach learning. Throughout the building there are small meeting rooms, breakout areas, case study rooms and larger lecture theatres.

A World-Class MBA

The MBA curriculum at the Business School is the result of more than 30 years experience and is designed to provide a leadership and strategic perspective in relation to the various facets of managing in a global context.
The School has developed a comprehensive approach, structuring the MBA in a way that builds business knowledge from the foundation principles to the point of true big picture thinking. The core units in the MBA program provide a strong foundation in the key functions of management, while the option units are multidisciplinary and draw on the core units to provide specialised understanding. The final core unit, Strategic Management integrates the various strands of the program. In your classes youll be exposed to a wide range of quality and practical experiences. MBA units offer a variety of learning approaches: case studies, simulations, guest presenters, teleconferencing, web-based lectures, game activities all targeted to authenticate your classroom learning. The Executive MBA The Executive MBA (EMBA) is tailored for busy professionals and is taught on weekends. The Executive MBA has a strong focus on current business trends and is highly desirable for those wanting to move into higher levels of management. Classes are offered on Saturdays and the open learning format provides a nurtured introduction to university studies.

Offered both full-time and part-time, the 12 unit MBA consists of 9 core units and 3 options. * This is considered a capstone unit and should be taken at the end of the degree

Executive MBA
The EMBA is comprised of 12 units. This includes the nine compulsory core units in the MBA program and the compulsory core unit Leadership Effectiveness. In addition, students can complete 2 nominated special topics units which will be determined each year, or 2 units from the list of MBA options.

The Programs flexibility is perhaps best demonstrated by the range of options offered. Students should choose three from the list of options:

MBA (Advanced)
For those who would like to extend their journey, the Business School also offers a 16 unit MBA (Advanced) program. Students undertake a further four options.

UWA Campus

Many regard the UWA campus as one of the most beautiful in the world. Its distinctive mix of heritage architecture and contemporary buildings contain stateof-the-art teaching and research facilities, lecture and performance theatres, modern technology, tutorial spaces, studios and subject-specific laboratories. At the heart of the campus is the Reid Library, Western Australias largest academic library, with over one million volumes. Adjoining UWAs campus you can picnic in Kings Park, cycle around the river, or tempt your tastebuds in cool cafs. From its extensive art collection, museums, music and theatre venues, to its wealth of sporting, cultural and social groups, the University meets the cultural and recreational needs of students in a balanced learning environment.

Economic Environment
Perth is a major centre for the energy and resources industry. Western Australia boasts a growing creative and knowledge-based economy and a politically stable and secure environment that is multilingual and multicultural. To be eligible for admission into the MBA program, you must meet the following requirements. 1. Have an approved Bachelor degree with a weighted average mark of 60% or equivalent. 2. Have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. 3. Be able to demonstrate satisfactory performance in a UWA-approved test of English.

When can you start your program at the Business School?


The MBA and EMBA programs are taught within a trimester system of 12 weeks of teaching. You can commence the MBA in January, May or September and the EMBA in January or September. Classes for the MBA are offered on weekdays and classes for the EMBA are offered on Saturdays.

To be eligible for admission into the EMBA program, you must meet the following requirements. 1. Have an approved Bachelors degree of this University with a weighted average mark of 60% or equivalent and 5 years relevant work experience or; 2. Have a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience and; 3. Be able to demonstrate satisfactory performance in a UWA-approved test of English.

What time commitments will I need to make?


You will participate in 12 three-hour seminars for each unit taken. You are expected to attend each of the seminars held throughout the 12 weeks for each unit. In addition, you will be required to commit, on average, an extra 9 hours per week, per unit. This will include working on individual assignments and team assignments.
