 DETERMINING THE SAMPLE SIZE.

One has to decide how many elements of the target population are to be chosen. I have chosen a sample size of 100 respondents.

The first step of our project is to take basic training about PMS. After taken basically training, doing the survey of Portfolio Management Service is to people the questionnaire the question for the questionnaires are prepared after going through pamphlets, research reports, fact sheets of mutual funds, by visiting different broker who are provide Portfolio Management Service.

The next step after the questionnaires are prepared is to collect the data. To fill the questionnaires the survey was conducted in commercial area of Mehsana city. The sources for filling questionnaires are doctors, ONGC customers, Business Persons, Government Servant interested in equity and mutual fund or invest huge in debt or real assets business etc. After that the questionnaire are analyzed & the people who are interested in PMS are found out.

After that the interested people are explained about the PMS was given. The last step is to prepare the report what have done practically & give the suggestion.

 Research Problem Statement:


In the todays unpredictable market scenario and fluctuating inflation values over it is tough to find the appropriate investment for the savings of investors. Today, many financial institutions are set up for providing services to the customer. People do not have specific research so they can not invest in appropriate portfolios. Apart from awareness about the investment avenues available in the market are also not known to them. There is a lack of knowledge of risk return tradeoff.

Main objective:The main purpose of my survey is customer awareness about the Portfolio Management ServicesofMOSL.

 Research Objective:
To understand different investment avenues. To understand the risk-return trade-off. To build awareness among the people about different portfolio management services, to make them aware about the benefits of investing in PMS in relation to other investment options. y To know the customer satisfaction level from the PMS and returns which they get from this services. y To study the need for risk profiling of an individual, where by suggesting an ideal services.

People prefer PMS based on the income level. To find out the reason behind to select the PMS. If they are not ready to invest then which is other option, they will invest. To know other companies who provide PMS & kind of service they offer.

To know the people knowledge about the PMS and awareness about the various type of services.

To know the problems faced by the investor while choosing PMS. To know the factors which are they keeping in mind while investing money in stock market?

To know their objective to invest their money in stock market and on which research base the invest money in the stock market.

To know the expectation level for return on PMS and investors are satisfied with the return.

To know the satisfaction level of PMS scheme compare to other schemes in stock market.

 Benefit of The Study:


The study mainly emphasizes on the practical awareness and understanding of simple investment strategies. Various tests and techniques help a participant in applying various concepts and skills so as to diversify and minimize risk and simultaneously earn maximum & stable profits.

 Scope of the Study:


For the simple and accurate research, the study covers geographical area of the Mehsana city.

 Need For Study:


The need for study was to find out persons willing to work with MOTILAL OSWAL SECURITIES LTD. As there is recruitment procedure going on in the company during this time for the job opportunity in areas like Mehsana city as compared to other financial companies.

 Research Design:
To carry out good research it is prerequisite essential that there should be a good and solid research design according to which the research framework is constructed. Out of many research design types, to know customer view points based on the project customer awareness about the PMS, the research design is based on descriptive studies type.

 SOURCES OF DATA
 Primary data: Questionnaire  Secondary data: Published materials of MOSL. Such as periodicals, journals, news papers, and website.

 SAMPLING PLAN
Sampling: Since MOSL has many segments I selected Portfolio Management Services (PMS) segment as per my profile to do market research. 100% coverage was difficult within the limited period of time. Hence sampling survey method was adopted for the purpose of the study.

Population: (Universe) customers & non consumers of MOSL Sampling size: A sample of hundred was chosen for the purpose of the study. Sample consisted of Investor as based on their Income and Profession as well as Educational Background.

Sampling Methods: Probability sampling requires complete knowledge about all sampling units in the universe. Due to time constraint non-probability sampling was chosen for the study. Sampling procedure: From large number of customers & non consumers sample lot were randomly picked up by me.

Sample design:

As per understanding the topic of the project, Random sample is chosen for easy research and cheapest to conduct.

 Instruments of the data collection:


As the study is based on the totally customer opinions, Primary data collected based on the questionnaireand for the conceptual clarity & to know the policies, terms and conditions, features of the services secondary data is used as follows:

 Limitations of the studies:


y COST: various field works and collection of data from various sources might be costly. y y TIME: the scope of the study is vast and thus time constraints. Resistance to reveal the real investment information by the respondents

Directly approached respondents by the following strategies Tele-calling Personal Visits Clients References Promotional Activities Database provided by the MOSL.

 Duration of Study
The Study was carried out for the period of one and half months from 1stJun to 19th of July 2011.
