I. TECHNICAL COURSES:
A. MATHEMATICS Math 1E - College Algebra A course covering linear equations on one unknown, coordinates and graphs, system linear equations, exponents and radicals, elements of quadratic equations, advance topics in quadratic equations, systems involving quadratic, ratios, proportion and variation, the binomial theorem, progression, inequalities, complex number, theory of equation, computation and logarithms, permutations and combinations, probability, mathematical induction, determinants, partial fractions, infinite series method of least squares and related topics. 5 units; Pre-requisite: High School Graduate Math 7 - Plane Trigonometry Study of the basic transcendental properties of exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions as applied to solutions of right triangles, the concept of trigonometric identities and equations general angles, radians and application of these solutions of oblique triangles. 3 units; Co-requisite: Math 1E Math 13 - Solid Mensuration and Spherical Trigonometry A course covering geometric property of solids, surfaces and volumes of various solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders, prisms, and grastrum of solids, and the measurement of plane figures, solids and spherical surfaces. 3 units; Pre-requisite: Math 1E , Math 7 Math 17E - Analytic Geometry A course covering Cartesian coordinates, locus of equations, equation of a locus, the straight line, conic sections, coordinate transformation, polar coordinates, parametric equations, solid analytic geometry. 3 units; Pre-requisites: Math 1E , Math 7 simultaneous w/ Math 13 Math 18 - Differential Calculus A course covering derivatives and differentials, maxima and minima, time rate, application to geometry, physics, mechanics and solutions of equations by Newtons method. 5 units; Pre-requisite: Math 17E , Math 13

Study of the theory and use of Surveying instruments including tape, compass, transit, stadia, level, running traverses and leveling; preparing of plans of survey; computation of areas and relocation of points. 2 units; Pre-requisites: Math 1E , Math 7 CE 221 - Elementary Surveying (lab) Fieldwork for measuring distances, measurement of direction, measurement of angle, measurement of difference in elevation, setting of batter boards. 2 units; Pre-requisites: Math 1E , Math 7 Co-requisites: CE 221 (lec) CE 313 - Higher Surveying (lec) Study of topographic surveying methods, triangulation, solar and stellar observation for latitude, longitude, time and azimuth, trigonometric, barometric and precise leveling; location of shoreline and sounding, gauging, measuring of velocity and discharge of streams; use of plans table, element of serial surveying. 2 units; Pre-requisite: CE 221 (lec & lab ) CE 313 - Higher Surveying (lab) Fieldwork for transit-stadia survey, plane table; system of triangulation; measurement of water velocity on open channels; hydrographic surveying with emphasis on sounding, astronomical observation. 2 units; Pre-requisite: CE 221 ( lec & lab ) CE 322C - Engineering Survey (lec/lab) Deal with the design of roads curvature and earthworks; it also includes profile leveling, contour mapping and topographic surveying. 3 units: Pre-requisite: CE 313 (lec/lab) CE 324 - Highway Engineering Highway engineering practice and design including geometric, soils, drainage, structure, surveys and plans, earthwork, flexible and rigid pavement design maintenance. 3 units; Pre-requisite: CE 313 (lec & lab ) CE 410 - Theory of Structures 1 Study of the theory of stress analysis as applied to statically determinate structure subjected to static and dynamic loads algebraic and graphical analysis of beams, trusses, portal and building frames.

4 units; Pre-requisite: ES 4B CE 411 - Soil Mechanics 1 Introduction to soil materials and basic physical, hydraulic and mechanical properties, densification, classification and structure of soil materials, engineering properties and behavior of soil including permeability and deformation, introduction to theories of effective stress, consolidation, shear, strength and failure. 3 units; Pre-requisite: ES 4B CE 413 - Construction Materials & Testing Physical properties of common construction materials, primarily metals, wood, concrete and asphalt, examination of properties with respect to design and use of end product, design of procedures for concrete and asphalt, introduction to reinforced concrete. 3 units; Pre-requisites: ES 4B , Geol. 221 , CE Tech. 2 CE 415 - Construction Methods, Planning & Estimating Description of method of earthwork, excavation and rock blasting, job planning and management, tunneling, heavy equipment, conveyor system, form works and safety engineering. 3 units; Pre-requisite: CE Tech. 2 , CE 313 CE 421B - Steel Design Design of structural elements in steel including details of joints, and splices, design of riveted and welded trusses, plate girders as applied to buildings, bridges and other engineering structures. 5 units; Pre-requisites: CE 425 CE 422A - Timber Design Design of timber structures with careful attention to details of joints and splices roof and bridge trusses, form works and scaffolding and also classification of lumber. 5 units; Pre-requisites: CE 425 , CE 413 CE 423 - Hydraulics Flow in pipes and networks, uniform flow in open channels, energy methods, introduction to varied flow phenomena, forces on submerged bodies, pumps, turbines and hydropower systems, introduction to irrigation engineering, introduction to scour and erosion, use of hydraulic models. 4 units; Pre-requisite: Mech. 421B CE 424 - Soil Mechanics 2 Theoretical soil behavior under strand lateral earth pressure, principles of bearing capacity and settlement for shallow and deep foundations, stability of slopes and embankments, stress distribution, seepage, excavation stability, sub-surface exploration methods and sampling. 3 units; Pre-requisite: CE 411

CE 425 - Theory of Structure 2 Analysis of criteria for moving loads, effect of moving loads in the stress computation of highways and railways, bridges, statically indeterminate beams, rigid frames and trusses; application of slope deflection and moment distribution methods to the analysis of statically indeterminate structure. 4 units; Pre-requisite: CE 410

CE 514 - Reinforced Concrete Design 1 Design of reinforced concrete structures like beams, slabs, columns with seismic analysis ( static lateral procedure ) using the Working Stress Design (WSD) and Ultimate Strength Design (USD). 5 units; Pre-requisite: CE 425 CE 522 - CE Project A practically oriented design project integrated over the various fields in which Civil Engineers work. Students will operate in consultant groups and will complete a design for a typical Civil Engineering undertaking. 3 units; Pre-requisites: CE 514 , CE 422 , ES 8A CE 523A - Ports & Harbor Types and classification of ports, tides and currents, waves, breakwaters, development and design. 3 units; Pre-requisite: 4th year standing CE 524 - Reinforced Concrete Design 2 Design of reinforced concrete structure w/ emphasis on structural dynamics and influences on structures; it also covers the design of T-beams, Doubly reinforced concrete; eccentrically loaded columns and the Building loads and standards of American Concrete Institute (ACI). 5 units; Pre-requisite: CE 514 CE 525 - Foundation Design of shallow footings, independent, combined or continuous, pile foundations; retaining walls, masonry, rock and earth dams; bridges piers and abutments; cantilevered and anchored sheet; Cofferdams and Caissons. 3 units; Pre-requisite: CE 424 Co-requisite: CE 522 CE 527 - Construction Project Management Management of the construction processes, control of project item and cost, resource allocation and management and administration of a construction contract, safety engineering. 3 units; Pre-requisite: CE 422 , ES 9 harbor

CE 529 - On the Job Training Actual on the job training of a Civil Engineering Graduating Student in an establishment that engages in Civil Engineering Practices, such as DPWH , City Engineers Office; Provincial Engineers Office; MCWD; and big Construction Firms that engages in Road Construction, Building Construction, Bridges, Dams, Irrigation, etc. 36 hrs. On the Job Training per week - 12 units Pre-requisite: Had completed all Academic Units. CE TECH. 1A - Plan Drawings & Interpretation A course on preparing and drawing of plans of structure like buildings, bridges, dams, etc; it also includes interpretation of plans and cost estimate of the project. 2 units; Pre-requisite: ES 1A CE TECH. 2 - Plumbing Installation Job training on plumbing installations; study of plans on sewage and water distribution; study of plumbing code, plumbing fixtures and appurtenances. 2 units; Pre-requisites: Phys. 1A (lec/lab), Math 7, CE Tech. 1 GE 221 - Environmental Science Sources of water pollution, treatment of water for control of pathogens and toxic contaminants, treatment of sewage. BOD testing and treatment of industrial effluents, analytical methods in pollution testing and control , particular control in atmospheric discharges, testing and control of toxic gases , smoke stacks. 2 units; Pre-requisite: Chem. 1A (lec & lab ) GE 510 - Seminars & Inspection Trips Study of industrial and power plants by making trips to local plants and discussing topics of special interest. 1 unit; Pre-requisite: 5th year standing GE 524 - Allied Engineering Laws, Ethic, Contracts specification with safety Engineering.
