Power cord precautions for use in Singapore The power cord set is not supplied. The power cord used must comply with relevant national and/or international standards. LCD Panel The liquid crystal panel of the monitor screen uses high-precision technology that provides a pixel yield in excess of 99.99 %. This means that some very small number of pixels may not light or may remain lit at all times. This is due to the characteristics of the liquid crystal panel, and does not indicate malfunction. Lens Never apply too much force when cleaning the surface of the lens. Doing so can scratch the lens surface and cause malfunction. You may sometimes notice some distortion in certain types of images, such as a slight bend in lines that should be straight. This is due to the characteristics of lenses, and does not indicate malfunction of the camera.

EX-FH100 How to restore the firmware

(1) Prepare the firmware restoration program. iris_l.bin NOTE: This software and procedure automatically restores the firmware even if the firmware belongs to a wrong model code. Make sure to use the correct software for the correct model. Copy the above file to the root directory in the memory card. Insert the memory card into the camera. Set a fully charged battery in the camera. NOTE: This software and procedure automatically restores the firmware even if the battery capacity of the camera is low. Make sure to use a fully charged battery to prevent the danger of power down during firmware restoration. Turn the power on while pressing the [shutter] button. If the power does not turn on only by pressing the [power] button, insert the battery while holding the [shutter] button depressed. The LED changes from "green", "red" to "green".

(5)

NOTE: This software and procedure automatically restores the firmware even if the firmware belongs to a wrong model code. Make sure to use the correct software for the correct mode. (6) (7) When the LED becomes "green steady", the firmware restoration is finished. Remove the battery and the memory card. Turn the power on again while holding [MENU] and [UPPER] depressed. Check the model name and the program version (PR:) in the opening screen of the test menu. ++KX1166++ Ver 1.00 If the model name and the program version are correct, perform SYSTEM INITIAL to initialize the system area. "[DOWN], [DOWN], [UPPER], [MENU]" "3:ROM UPDATE" "5:SYSTEM INITIAL" NOTE: After SYSTEM INITIAL is performed, "SYSTEM ERROR" appears when the power is turned on again. Write the latest firmware. (Refer to page 12) After the firmware is written, check the model name and the program version (PR:) in the opening screen of the test menu.

(8)

(9)

(10) Finally, start the camera normally to check the operation by recording, playing back and deleting an image. Check also that the colors in the images are not too bright or two dark.

13

EX-FH100 To install the firmware

(1) (2) Initially, firmware is not installed in the PCB supplied by the parts center. Install the firmware into the PCB after replacing with a new one as shown in the procedures below. RESETTING THE PLACE OF DESTINATION

When the main PCB is replaced, the setting of the destination will be changed, therefore resetting is required. However, when the firmware is changed or fixed, the setting of the destination will be held, therefore resetting is not required. Use the destination setting script to change the destination flag as instructed below. (1) (2) (3) Have an memory card ready that have a corresponding script (autorun.scp) under the root directory. Insert the memory card in the camera and turn on the power. If the following messages are shown on the screen after a few seconds, the system finishes changing the destination flag. Turn off the camera. For North America flag : 0X227f f f f 7 For Europe and UK flag : 0X507f f f f f For others flag : 0X507f f f f 7 Remove the memory card from the camera and turn on the power to confirm if the camera is set as you wish including the number of the menu languages and the scene of the best shot mode. DISASSEMBLY
Precautions for Repair (Applicable to Digital Cameras of All Models) Tools to use
1 . Conductive gloves or finger cots When assembling/disassembling a digital camera, be sure to wear conductive gloves or conductive finger cots.

2. Tweezers Do not use metal tweezers. Be sure to use plastic tweezers with flat tips. (Anti-static tweezers are recommended)

* A damaging case (caused by metal tweezers with sharp points)

3. Ruler (used to shape FPCs) A steel rule or a rule made of anti-static material. The edge must be sanded smooth.

20

EX--FH100 Shaping the FPCs

Before using a new component unit with FPCs, be sure to form the FPCs into shape before assembling. For more forming details of an FPC, refer to the applicable chapters of the manual. Damaging cases (lens unit) Without forming the FPCs, excess force is applied to the connector of the main PCB or the soldered part of a CCD. This may damage the FPC or cause malfunctions.

The connector is being lifted with excess force. It was unlocked due to vibration from using the camera even though it was connected at the time of repair.

The contact of the connector is The CCD soldered to the FPC bent and became disconnected. peeled off.

Bending the FPC into shape

1. Align the edge of a steel rule to the line where the FPC is to be folded. 2. Fold the FPC over the rule, and hold them there with fingers to shape the FPC (be sure to wear anti-static gloves or finger cots). 3. Form the FPC into shape by folding it at 0.5 mm or larger. Note: Do not collapse the fold or make a crease on the FPC!

21

EX--FH100 Inserting an FPC to an connector

Be sure that the FPC is inserted all the way into the connector and locked securely.

Damaging cases

The FPC is inserted in an angle. Inserting the FPC in an angle damaged its head.

The connector is not locked securely.

Holding the Lens

Hold the lens by the frame.

EX--FH100 Assembling the lens

When setting the Lens Unit onto the Frame, press the part where the Lens Unit touches the hook.

Damaging cases

Pressing the lens.

Pressing an area that is susceptible to pressure.

Screws
1. There are several kinds of screws. Be sure to use the correct type of screws when reassembling. It is advisable to sort the screws as shown below after removing them.

2. If a torque value is indicated on a screw, use a torque driver to tighten the screw at the indicated value.

23

EX-FH100 IMPORTANT Please note that the product on this manual may appear to be different from the actual one according to the changes such as engineering design change. Remove the battery before starting any repair or servicing. Replace the (S1), (S2), (S3), (S5) and (S8) screws with new ones after being removed. Make sure not to reuse them.
