Diesel prices have gyrated between $2 and $5 per gallon over the past 36 months. ogging contractors have been especially hard hit by sharply higher fuel prices combined with dramatically lower demand for their services. any wood buyers feel a need to help cover the higher diesel costs for their suppliers, yet have few options given the current demand and margins on their products. andowners will also see impacts on stumpage prices as well as the cost of site preparation and other services. These higher and more volatile fuel prices are likely here to stay so what should we be doing in the future to manage our systems with this new reality?
