UN/ECE Recommendation No.20, Codes for Units of Measure (UoM) used in international trade Annex 4, units of count and other units of measure (comprehensive conversion to SI units not applicable)
This UN/ECE Recommendation shall provide a core components repository of unambiguous Units of Measures and Units of Counts. 1. SI units: a first, leading group of units shall have at least a comprehensive (set of) Conversion factor(s) to SI units, providing such an unambiguous semantic content. Missing correlation to SI units will be provided by SI experts. non SI units: units listed in this Annex 4 are a (for the time being provisional) regrouping of units for which a comprehensive correlation to SI units is not applicable. Hence, a description is needed, to provide such an unambiguous semantic content. Before being able to open the Annexes of this UN/ECE Recommendation to public comment, these missing description (fields are shadowed in red) need to be provided, hopefully by recognised sources, specially users' groups: see use ID (with provisional flagging), sections 40 to 46 (line headings are shadowed in grey) in the table below. To identify the source of entries, see columns UN/ECE Rec.21 (see also doc. TRADE/CEFACT/2001/21, 2001-01-15), ANSI[/ASC/X12]355-2 and Quantity. Last, the fields/columns Level category and Quantity provide very often useful information but seem not to have been systematically maintained: CDWG might consider 1 merging both, 2 simplifying the coding scheme for each, to allow 3 easier categorisation at input as well as improving understandability for the final users.
